  Notes	Walter William "Sarge" Steffen, 75, of Clarkfield, formerly of Granite Falls, died Sunday, November 24, 1996, at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield. Walter William Steffen was born July 21, 1921, in Tracy, to Albert and Ella (Ariones) Steffen. On September 25, 1945, he and Joyce Faltten were married at the Old South Church in Granite Falls. The couple lived in Tracy for a short time. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany, Alabama, North Carolina, and Kansas. In 1959, the family returned to Granite Falls where he worked for Parker-Hannifin until he was disabled. He was a member of the Granite Falls V.F.W. and the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. He enjoyed slow pitch softball. Survivors include his sons, Richard of Apple Valley and Jack of Granite Falls; daughter, Jill Meyer of Granite Falls; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister and his wife.
