Ptacek was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Long Prairie, Minnesota. On Feb. 14, 1947, she married Ruben Skjefte in Oakes, N.D. They farmed near Glover and Verona, both North Dakota, before moving to Lisbon, N.D., in 1959. He died in 1965. She then attended business college in Fargo. She worked for Sandhills Veterinary Service in Lisbon for two years. She then worked for North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon for 25 years, retiring in 1991. She moved to Park Rapids and later to Worthing. She is survived by a son, Ronald, Worthing; two daughters, Judy Abbas, Sioux Falls, S.D., Sherry (Richard) Dahl, Menahga, Minn.; two brothers, Lynn (Margaret), Valley City, N.D., Lloyd (LaVerne), Cogswell, N.D.; three sisters, Bernice Ptacek, Beverly (Fred) Maack, both Lisbon, Bertha (Art) Olson, Dickinson, N.D.; three grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
