- Martha Ann Ekum, 80, of Cornell, passed quietly Sunday, July 18, 2010, into the arms of the Lord after a very courageous battle with cancer at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Martha was born the daughter of Steve and Pauline (Snyder) Kvapil on Aug. 11, 1929, in the town of Colburn where she was raised and attended school.
Martha married Nytar Ekum on April 21, 1947, and lived and farmed in the town of Colburn. They later divorced. Martha enjoyed raising flowers in her flower gardens. She is so loved and loved her family and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by: her sons, Duane (Peggy) of Chippewa Falls, David (Renee) of Cornell, Dale (Kessea) of Cornell, Darrel (Kelly) of Mosinee; one daughter, Debra of Cornell; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by: her parents Steve and Pauline; son Dennis; brothers, Walter, Steve and Daniel; and her ex-husband Nytar.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 22 at Borton Funeral Home with Pastor Brahm Semmler Smith officiating.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Big Drywood Cemetery.
