Notes |
- John Edward Koval, age 78, of Federal Way, passed away in his sleep at home October 30, 2006. Born August 23, 1928 to John J. Koval and Mary D. Soltis of Tacoma. He was a graduate of Puyallup High School and served as a Cpl. in the Army during the Korean conflict. He graduated from the Seattle Police Academy in 1960 and had a long career in law enforcement. He spent 47 years in the railroad industry, starting at age 15 in the store department for the Milwaukee Railroad, later becoming a Lieutenant of Police for the Milwaukee in Montana and Washington, and as a Special Agent for the Union Pacific Railroad police force he retired in 1990. John was a beloved husband and father who enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, camping and sports. He loved a good Huskies football or Seahawks game or a round of boxing. He enjoyed working with his hands and loved to build things, especially beautiful furniture. His family considered him a "jack of all trades" since he could do anything from electrical to mechanical work. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Federal Way since 1969, and a Lifetime Member of the Miles City, MT Elks Lodge and the First Catholic Slovak Union.
