- In the minutes of the May 31, 2007, meeting of the Colorado Springs City Asset Naming Board, there was a motion to name a new short city street Olga Willson Way. Her house had had to be demolished to make way for the road.
Olga Willson, age 86, of College Station, died August 30, 2009. She was cremated through Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station. She will be inurned in Colorado Springs at Memorial Gardens.
She was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Kiev, Ukraine, USSR, to Evdokia and Afanasi Iwchenko. In 1945 she married Stanley G. Willson, of Minneapolis, who died in 1994. After a career in the U.S. Army, they settled in Colorado Springs, Colo. until Olga moved to College Station in 2006. She loved gardening, sewing, painting, and reading.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George and Vladimir, who died during WWII.
Survivors include her son, Victor; daughter-in-law, Carol; three grandsons, Eric, Kurt, and Scott; granddaughter-in-law, April Willson and two great-grandsons, Michael and Dustin Willson.
