Notes |
- Elsie Marie Hogenson was born to Ernest and Ida Harlow on November 8, 1919. Elsie was predeceased by her parents, her sister Ruby, her two brothers, Eldon and James, and husband of 61 years, Austin Hogenson. She passed away peacefully in Puyallup, Washington, where she resided. In 1937 Elsie graduated from Drayton High School in North Dakota, where she was raised. In 1939, she and Austin were married, and in 1954 they sold their farm in Minnesota and headed for the Puyallup Valley in Washington, where they settled with their 6 children. Elsie was a woman of many talents. There wasn't a project she couldn't sew or craft or grow or hammer together. She and Austin enjoyed square dancing with their family and many friends, and her toe never stopped tapping, even when she could no longer dance. After the children were grown, Elsie and Austin loved to take off in their motor home and park by a lake somewhere and go fishing, many times with a grandchild in tow. They were also rockhounds and spent many happy hours by the seashore or a river in the mountains searching for agates and thunderheads, which they would bring home and polish and make into jewelry. Elsie also developed and perfected many recipes, especially gluten-free recipes. Elsie is survived by her 4 sons and 2 daughters, Harlow (Connie), Curtis (Gail), Roger (Susan), Marilyn (Ron), Joanne and Lee (Penny), and by her 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, of whom she was very proud. Our beloved Elsie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. There will be a graveside memorial service held at Fir Lane Cemetery in Spanaway, Washington, for family and friends.
