Susan Schneider passed away unexpectedly at Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa, Calif., on April 13, with her family by her side. God’s decision to take her on her next journey will deliver Susan to that serene, peaceful and restful place to which she always strived. Susan Lynn Carpenter was born Sept. 22, 1950 in Brainerd, and spent her early years near Aitkin. In 1968, she graduated from Jackson High School. She attended Mankato State University before moving to San Francisco, Calif., and eventually Sonoma County, Calif., where she spent the remainder of her life. In her career as a certified medical coder, Susan worked for North American Medical Management systems and the Coding Source. She retired at the end of 2009 and moved from Cazadero, Calif., to Santa Rosa, Calif. She spent her free time caring for her family and friends, reading and working on cross stitch. Sue enjoyed traveling to Southeast Asia, Europe and throughout the United States. Susan will be remembered for her loving, gentle and generous spirit that touched us all. Her spirituality helped guide her life. Known as ‘Sweet Sue’ to her family and friends, she will always be loved and never forgotten. Susan is survived by her husband Robert, the love of her life for 29 years and she was the love of his. She is also survived by her mother, Darlene Carpenter Ireland of Jackson; brother Steven (Becky) Carpenter of Jackson; sisters Karla (Pastor Patrick) Thurmer of Cape Coral, Fla., Karen (Don) Wells of Farmington; three sons Erin (Vanessa) Sharkey of Santa Rosa, Calif., Eamon Sharkey of Santa Rosa, Calif., Ryan (Lauren) Sharkey of San Jose, Calif.; grandson Luke Carter Sharkey was the newest light of her life. She will also be remembered with love by numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Carol and Ellen Carpenter, Matthew and Mae Johnson; her father Kenneth Carpenter; and her stepfather James Ireland.
