- Kozey Ferne (Willard) Ellingboe, a long time resident of Beaverlodge, passed away at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the age of 89 years.
Kozey was born on February 5, 1923 in Oyen, Alberta. From there the family moved to Lloydminster, then in 1928 to Tupper, B.C. and in the fall of 1938 to Rio Grande. She met her husband, Art Ellingboe in 1939 and was married October 23, 1941. They remained on the Ellingboe Homestead until retirement in 1972 when they moved to Beaverlodge and then to Amisk Court.
Kozey is survived by her eight children: daughters Joy (Francis) Juneau, Arta (Dave) Juneau, Bessie (Bob) Watson and Gloria (Gordon) Bulley, sons Alton (Eadie) Ellingboe, James (Dorothy) Ellingboe, Denis (Marilyn) Ellingboe and Kerry (Yvonne) Ellingboe as well as 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Kozey was predeceased by her husband, Art Ellingboe in 1981, her mother and father, Jim and Bessie Willard, sister Jean Sask, brothers Gerald and Merton Willard plus 1 sister in law, 3 brother in laws, 4 nephews and 2 nieces.
Kozey had a love for gardening and quilting. She was a long time member of the IODE and the UCW in Beaverlodge. She worked at the Beaverlodge Hospital for many years as housekeeper until her retirement.
A funeral service was held on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beaverlodge Alliance Church Rev, Neal Palmer officiated. Interment followed in the Halcourt Cemetery.
