Notes |
- St. Olaf, ‘35. M. Div Th, Luther Seminary, ‘39.
From the St. Olaf Alumni magazine, Spring, 1955:
That Jennings Feroe, '35, pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato, Minnesota, cannot escape his St. Olaf friends was very evident at an evening of appreciation given him by his congregation at the Mankato high school auditorium on Sunday, April 17.
The ceremonies, patterned on the telecast "This is Your Life" honored him for his ten years of service in Mankato.
Waldo S. Johnson, '51, seminarian, was master of ceremonies. Pastor Feroe identified his mother's voice on a recording. Then from behind the scenes came, not just voices, but live "Oles", personalities woven closely into Feroe's past and present life. He had a perfect rating on identification of voices. His wife (Elaine Hjortland) and her parents, Pastor and Mrs. E. S. Hjortland (Mildred Ellingboe) revealed themselves first. Following these were his brother and wife, Pastor and Mrs. Arthur Feroe (Lucille Johnson) of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Pastor and Mrs. Alf Romstad (Olga Mostrom) (Alf was his St. Olaf roommate) and Pastor Fredric Norstad (his seminary roommate) were on hand to remind him of a few past events. Pastor and Mrs. Carroll Hinderlie (Mary Aasgaard) came from behind the scenes to remind him of some breathless days and nights in Norway when the three of them were fleeing from the Germans. John Quam, seminarian and former interne at Bethlehem Lutheran, and Dr. E. C. Reinertson completed the roster of "Oles" on the program.
Pastor Feroe received a gift of an around the world ticket from his congregation. He will go on a tour of the mission fields of the ELC. His church supports seven missionaries.
He was a visitation pastor for St. John’s in Northfield in the mid-1990s.
