In the 1910 census, he is Edward Rasmussen (or Rasmusson) living with his wife Irena at 26 Elizabeth Street in River Rouge in Ecorse Twp, Wayne County, Michigan. They have been married for one year and have no children. Edward is a “holder on ship yard.”
Registered for the draft on June 5th, 1917, in River Rouge, Wayne County, Michigan, where he was a riveter for a shipyard. He has a wife and 3 children. He is tall, slender, with brown eyes and light hair.
Indexed as Basmussen in the 1920 census. In the 1920 census, he has four daughters and lives at 211 Summit in River Rouge. He is a riveter in the shipbuilding industry.
In the 1930 census, he is in River Rouge with his wife and five children. He owns the house they live in at 211 Summit Street which is worth $4000. The household has a radio. Eaner is an ironworker in the construction industry.
In the 1933 Wyandotte, Michigan, city directory, he and Irene live at 211 Summit Avenue. He sells cigars at 10511 W Jefferson Ave.
In the 1940 census (indexed as Eaner Rasmssen), he and Lena and family live in River Rouge. His occupation is salesman at a billard parlor. The household consists of Eaner, 52, Lena, 48, Violet, 22, Herald, 18, Donald, 9, Dona, 9, and a lodger, Harry Champagne, 46, divorced. Everyone had lived in that same house, 211 Summit, five years earlier. In the supplemental questions, Eaner’s usual occupation is shown as structural steel worker at a ship yard.
In the 1941 Downriver city directory (which includes River Rouge), he is Eaner R Rasmussen, wife Lena D, “billiards” (probably a billiards parlor or pool hall) at 10463 Jefferson in River Rouge. He lives at 211 Summit in River Rouge.
He registered for the World War II draft in 1942 as Eaner Edward Rasmussen. He was 54 years old and lived at 211 Summit Street in River Rouge. His telephone number was Vinewood 1-4909. His employer was Whitey’s Billiards at 10463 West Jefferson in River Rouge. He gave Harold Rasmussen of 211 Summit as the “person who will always know your address.”
In the 1945 city directory, Eaner E and Lena D still live at 211 Summit in River Rouge. His business is now called Whitey’s Billiards. Rasmussens also living at that address: Donald and Harold.
