Note by his son:
MSgt C.V. Neely flew 35 missions over Europe as a tail gunner in B-24s. After WWII, he flew B-29s. In the late 50's he transitioned as a boom operator flying KC-97s. He helped test the KB-50. He transitioned to KC-135s in the early 60's as a member of the USAF Strategic Air Command (SAC) under General Curtis LeMay. He re-enlisted at 40,000 feet, flew over the North Pole, served during what we call the Cold War, and served a full tour in Viet Nam before retiring in 1969.
