In the 1900 Norwegian census, he was Karl Olsen, Murerarbeider (mason), living with his family in Hamar in an 8-flat apartment on Lille Strandgade 29 street. The family consisted of Karl, b. 1867, Julie Berthine Olsen, b. 1870, Anna Margrethe Olsen, b. 1891, Olga Bergliot Olsen, b. 1893, Jenny Konstanse Olsen, b. 1896, and Thorvald Marius Olsen, b. 29 Apr 1899. Everyone in the family had been born in Hamar except for Julie Berthine who was born in Elverum.

In the 1910 census, he and his family were living on a rented farm in Trondhjem Twp, Otter Tail County. Carl apparently came to the U. S. in 1907 and the rest of his family followed in 1908.

In the 1920 census, he and his family were living in the city of Fergus Falls on Laurel Avenue. His three oldest daughters were not listed with the family.

The June 14, 1954, edition of the FFDJ notes that Mrs. Clarence Lyngstad served the cake at the bridal shower for Mrs. Kenneth Bixon (Corinne Olson). {The newlyweds’ names were spelled incorrectly in the article. They were Kenneth Leroy Biksen and Corrine Merie Olson.}

In the summer of 1960, when the engagement of Deland and Sharon was announced in the Fergus Falls newspaper, she was referred to as Mrs. Clarence Lyngstad of Encino, California. At the time of the wedding in December, she had moved to Fergus Falls.

Doris Violet Lyngstad, 92, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, May 18, 2009, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. 

She was born May 14, 1917, in Rothsay, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Anna (Ostlund) Toso. She grew up on her family farm and attended country school through the eighth grade. She did waitress work for a time. She worked at Lake Region Hospital for many years, and after retiring from there, she worked at the Otter Tail Nursing Home.

On June 29, 1946, she married Clarence Lyngstad in Norfolk, Virginia. Over the years they lived in many places, including in California and Nebraska. They later lived on South Turtle Lake for 20 years.

Doris was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, and the “Art of the Lakes” and VFW.

She enjoyed painting beautiful pictures – especially old farmsteads, which she would sell. She also made sure each of her children had a painting. She loved to bake, and made lefsa for everyone. Her gardens were always large and surrounded by beautiful flowers.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Clarence; four brothers, Lloyd, Marvin, Clayton and Orin Toso; and two sisters, Jeanette (Clarence) Johnson and Jean Rix.

Survivors include her children: LaDonna Olson of Alexandria, Deland (Sharon) Bloch of Savage, and Lynette (Roger) Hutchins of Fergus Falls; 11 grandchildren: Kim (Carol) Olson, Kathryn (Duane) Begin, Kory Olson, Karla (Terry) Pavek, Kristopher Olson, Chad (Cynthia) Bloch, Jeffory (Lisa) Bloch, Kari (Mike) Pankey, Tyson (Joanna) Bloch, and Jonathan and Jamie Hutchins; 21 great-grandchildren: Sarah Olson, Mellissa Mrozek, Jessica Stroman, Breanna, Kayla, and Jenna Begin, Ryan Parks and Alexander Pavek, Heather and Hallie Hutchins, and Nick Anderson, Robert (Krista) Bloch, Brandon and Christian Bloch, Brittney and Brayden Bloch, Grace, Kathrine and Joe Pankey, and Charlie and Hailey Bloch; three great-great-grandchildren: Shelby and Sydney Stroman and Cierra Mrozek; two sisters, Evelyn (Leo) Hennen of Morris and Joyce (Ray) Doschadis of Graceville; one brother, John (Tami) Toso of Sun City, AZ; and three sisters-in-law: Mildred, Helen, and Evelyn Toso.

Mass of Christian Burial for Joyce Doschadis, age 84, of Graceville will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beardsley, MN.

Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday, two hours prior to the Mass.

Father David Breu will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her sons: Gary, Steve, Mike, Kevin, and Tim. Honorary bearers will be the Staff of Grace Home.

Joyce Delia Doschadis was born on February 9, 1930, in Foxhome Township, Wilkin County, Minnesota to John and Anna (Ostlund) Toso. She was raised Lutheran and then was baptized into the Catholic Church on June 16, 1947. Joyce graduated from high school in 1947.

On July 10, 1947, Joyce and Raymond Eugene Doschadis were united in marriage in Browns Valley, Minnesota. They lived near Lake Traverse for a while, and then moved to Babbitt, Minnesota. Two years later they settled in Beardsley, Minnesota. Joyce and Ray were blessed with five children. Joyce worked at Phyl's Café in Beardsley, Holy Trinity Hospital as a nurses' assistant and at Beardsley Public Schools as a cook and a janitor. Ray died in June of 1997.

Joyce was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beardsley where she was a member of Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. As a member of the Hee Haw Gang, Joyce played guitar and sang with this group, bringing joy and laughter to many. She enjoyed fishing with Ray. Joyce really liked people and enjoyed a great party. Joyce was a devoted mother and her family meant a lot to her.

Joyce died on October 18, 2014, at Grace Home in Graceville, having reached the age of 84. She will be deeply missed.

Left with her loving memory are her five sons and daughters-in-law: Gary (Carol) Doschadis of Walker, MN; Steve (Nancy) Doschadis of Blaine, MN; Mike (Donna) Doschadis of Watertown, SD; Kevin (Jill) Doschadis of Graceville, MN; Tim (Becky) Doschadis of Beardsley, MN; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Toso of Owatonna, MN; and one sister, Evelyn Hennen of Morris, MN.

Lester Xavier Sha, 87, Denton, formerly Breckenridge, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, in Denton Senior Care Center.

Mr. Sha was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Fergus Falls, Minn. He moved with his parents to Valley City, N.D., where he grew up. In 1935, he moved to a farm near Foxhome, Minn. In 1941, he joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II. Following his military discharge, he moved to Breckenridge. On Aug. 21, 1946, he married Della Fuder. They lived in Breckenridge, where he worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. In 1973, they moved to Fergus Falls, where he continue to work for the MnDOT. He retired in 1979. In 1983, they moved back to Breckenridge. She died in 1985. In 1998, he moved to Denton.

He is survived by two sons, Dennis (Linda), Denton, Wayne (Linda), The Colony, Texas; a brother, Tom, Rodeo, Calif.; a sister, Marian Ellingson, Fargo; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation: Today from 5 to 7 in Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge.

On Nov. 15, 1969, she married Eldor Merz at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

She was employed in the legal department of Otter Tail Power Company in Fergus Falls, for 45 years.

Diane was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls and served on the council. She enjoyed quilting, reading, baking, sewing, knitting, and flower gardening. She was a former member of the Elizabeth Lions Club.

Her father, Marvin, preceded her in death in 2003.

Survivors include her husband, Eldor; children, Corey Merz, Tyler (Janice) Merz, and Brady (Naomi) Merz all of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Zach, Madisin, Jazmyn, Kaelyn, Mackenzie, James, John, and Anna all of Fergus Falls; her mother, C. Evelyn Toso of Fergus Falls and a sister, Marlene (Vance) Johnson of Foxhome.

LaDonna Lou (Bloch) Olson, 81, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at home, surrounded by her beloved family. LaDonna was born July 29, 1936, in Fergus Falls to Louis and Doris (Toso) Bloch. She attended Fergus Falls High School and later earned her GED.

On May 19, 1954, she married Mandus Olson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They moved immediately to California for a short period of time and then back to Fergus Falls. They moved again to California before moving back to Fergus for 11 years and then moving to St. Louis Park and Fridley. To grow their family business they moved to Coon Rapids and lived there until retiring and moving to Alexandria on Maple Lake. They were snowbirds and wintered in Phoenix for 27 years.

Donna was one of the best bakers in town. Her spritz Christmas cookies, chocolate chip cookies and blonde brownies were among many favorites. She loved doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed playing bingo and playing the slots in the Sweetheart Tournament in Vegas each February. She loved helping her son Kristopher in the classroom. Donna was a late bloomer and didn’t get her driver’s license until she was 70 years old and after that was never home. She loved to drive, anywhere!

LaDonna is survived by her five children, Kim (Carol) Olson of Fort Pierce, Florida, Kathy (Duane) Begin of Mooresville, North Carolina, Kory Olson of St. Paul, Karla (Terry) Pavek of Maple Grove and Kristopher Olson of Phoenix; nine grandchildren, Jeremy Robideau, Breanna Begin, Kayla Begin, Jenna Begin, Mellissa Mrozek, Jessica (Troy) Stroman, Sarah Olson, Ryan Parks, Alexander Pavek; five great-grandchildren, Emily Robideau, Tyler Robideau, Cierra Mrozek, Shelby Stroman and Sydney Stroman, brother Deland Bloch, sister Lynette (Roger) Hutchins, countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lynette Hutchins, 71, of Fergus Falls died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Lake Region Healthcare, Fergus Falls.

Lynette was born July 17, 1947 in Fergus Falls, MN to Clarence and Doris (Toso) Lyngstad. She grew up and attended school in Fergus Falls.

On October 2, 1965 Lynette married the love of her life, Roger Hutchins, they shared 52 years of marriage and to this union they had two sons Jonathan and Jamie.

Lynette and Roger owned and operated Hutchins Tree Service where she was the bookkeeper. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran, a homemaker and loved to cook and bake. Lynette also enjoyed gardening and was an avid bowler and bowled on a league. Over the years the couple enjoyed traveling, cruises, and trips to casinos which included Las Vegas.

Preceding her in death where her parents; sister Donna Olson and a sister-in-law Sharon Bloch.

Lynette is survived by her husband Roger, of Fergus Falls; two sons Jonathan (special friend Connie), and Jamie both of Fergus Falls; granddaughters, Heather and Hallie Hutchins; brother Deland Bloch of Savage; brothers-in-law Gary (Jeanie) Hutchins of Fergus Falls, Doug Stock of Fargo, Frank Stock of Fergus Falls and sister-in-law Roxanne (Dale) Meyer of Wahpeton; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

The Bismarck paper said he lived in Wahpeton. He was the driver of a semi truck that collided with a car at about 2:30 pm on June 14th on U.S. Highway 2 near Erskine, Minnesota. The car was crossing the highway from a rest area when it was struck by the semi. The impact flipped the truck and it caught on fire. Wayne Allen Sha, age 61, of The Colony, TX passed away on April 11, 2011 in The Colony surrounded by his family. He was born on November 26, 1949 in Breckenridge, MN to Lester and Della (Fudere) Sha.

Wayne served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He married Linda Timmerman on June 11, 1977 in Rolla, ND. Wayne worked as a Production & Inventory Control Manager at Wil-Rich, Wahpeton, ND (1973-1986) and as a Planner/Scheduler and in Customer Service with International Paper, Carrollton, TX (1986-2011).

He is survived by his wife, Linda Sha of The Colony, TX; daughters, Amy Kalb and husband, Jason of Little Elm, TX; Lindsey Gerber and husband, Paul of Carrollton, Tx; his grandson, Cooper Sha Kalb (to arrive in June); brothers, Dennis Sha and Wife, Linda of Denton, TX; nieces, Kristin Boyd of Carrollton, Tx; Kim Wissen of Austin, Texas; special aunt, Marian Ellingson of Fargo, ND and Linda's family who looked on Wayne as "one of their own."

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Della Sha and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church, Carrollton, TX. Interment followed at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco, TX.
