In the 1905 state census, Ludvig and his new wife Constance were living at “Main St. N.” in Montevideo. Each had been in the current enumeration district for 10 months. Nanda Bergh, 18, appeared to be living with them.

By the 1910 census, he is a doctor living next door to, or with, Luthard in Montevideo.

He registered for the draft on September 12, 1918, in Montevideo. He lived at 107 North 5th Street and was a physician and surgeon with offices at 105 South 1st Street. He was of medium height and build with blue eyes and dark brown hair.

The family lived at 107 North 5th in Montevideo in the 1920 census. This was down the street a few houses from O. N. Bergh.

Came to this country in 1894. Naturalized 1899.

The house # is 105 in the 1930 census. Living with the family now is Brunhilde with her new husband R. Bruce Brown, 24, and their daughter Constance E.. one month.

He died at 5:45 AM at his residence, 107 North Fifth Street, attended by his son-in law, Dr. William A. Owens, who may have been a partner in the medical practice that Ludwig Sr. and Luthard had. The death certificate says that his death was due to acute coronary occlusion caused by coronary arterioslcerosis. He apparently had been stricken five hours before he died. His death certificate notes that he had lived in the district for 44 years. His body was not autopsied.

From a history of Chippewa and Lac qui Parle Counties, written in 1916:

Dr. Ludvig Reinhard Lima, of the firm of Lima & Bergh, physicians and surgeons at Montevideo, and one of the best-known physicians in this part of the state, is a native of the kingdom of Norway, born at Stavanger, April 30, 1877, son of Hans and Marie (Nese) Lima, both natives of Norway, the former of whom died in his native land in 1879 and the latter of whom came to the United States in 1905 and spent her last days in the state of Oregon, where she died in 1915.

Doctor Lima received in his native land an excellent foundation for his later medical education, finishing the course in the high school there, after which, in 1894, he then being about seventeen years of age, he came to the United States and proceeded to Minneapolis. He presently entered Augsburg Seminary, from which he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1899. He then entered the medical department of Hamline University at Minneapolis and was graduated from that institution in 1903, with the degree of Doctor of Medicine. Thus equipped for the practice of his profession, Doctor Lima was appointed an interne at the City and County Hospital at St. Paul and after a year of very valuable experience in that institution went to Montevideo, where he opened an office in the fall of 1904, and where he ever since, with the exception of a year spent in post-graduate work abroad, has been engaged in practice, long having been recognized as one of the leading physicians of this part of the state. It was in 1907 that Doctor Lima went to Europe for the purpose of extending the scope of his medical learning and after taking a course in both general medical research and specializing in surgery, in the University of Vienna, returned to Montevideo in 1908 and in that same year formed a partnership with Dr. Luthard N. Bergh, his brother-in-law, under the firm style of Lima & Bergh, which mutually agreeable arrangement continues, the Doctors having a large general practice throughout this part of the country. They also are division surgeons for the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad Company. Doctor Lima is a member of the Camp Release Medical Society and of the Minnesota State Medical Association, in the affairs of which organization he takes a warm interest.

In the fall of 1904 Dr. Ludvig R. Lima was united in marriage to Constance Bergh, who was born at Stony Run, in Yellow Medicine county, this state, daughter of the Rev. O. N. Bergh and wife, natives of Norway, the former of whom is a minister of the Norwegian Lutheran church, and to this union four children have been born, Brunhilde, Hildegarde, Bergliot and Ludvig Reinhard. Doctor and Mrs. Lima are members of the Norwegian Lutheran church and take an earnest interest in the various beneficences of the same.
