    Notes:

Klingel, Natalja Hurley age 91, passed away in Santa Fe, NM on September 29, 2007. She was the only daughter of Dennis Hurley and Emma Deiters Hurley of West St. Paul, MN. Her husband, Thomas R. Klingel, Executive Vice President of the Soo Line Railroad, died in 1986. They had lived for many years on Highwood Road in St Louis Park, MN then in New Brighton, MN before moving to Santa Fe and, finally, to Sonoma, CA. Natalja graduated from the University of Minnesota in the Class of 1939, studied in the College of Home Economics under former faculty members and venerated teachers, Harriet and Vetta Goldstein. From 1974 to 1976 she conceived of and implemented a plan, together with a committee of other former students, to dedicate space in the new Home Economics building on campus to the Goldstein Gallery. The Gallery today houses the Goldstein personal art collection of fabrics, ceramics, prints and folk art from all over the world. Natalja incorporated art into all aspects of everyday life. She designed beautiful wall hangings, some of them displayed in the Craft Museum in New York City. She designed and hand printed curtains for the Mayo Clinic. Early in her career, she won several national magazine awards for her designs. After her husband's death, Natalja devoted many hours to volunteer services at Community Hospital in Santa Rosa, CA, St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe and the International Folk Art Museum in Santa Fe. Next to her family, Natalja's love for dogs was extraordinary. Perhaps her favorite was Baby Dumpling, their St. Bernard on Highwood Road. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to your local animal shelter or rescue center would make Natalja very happy. Natalja is survived by her son Jon Klingel of Santa Fe, his wife Marlene Klingel, daughter Louise Casselman of Santa Fe, her husband Kirk Casselman, and grandchildren Heidi Klingel of Arcata, CA, Tyler Casselman of San Francisco, CA and Kate Casselman of Portland, OR. Burial will be at 1:00 pm Monday, October 8, 2007 at Oakland Cemetery, St. Paul. Inquiries to O'Halloran & Murphy, 651-698-0796. ?
