He registered for the World War II draft as Adolph Edward Herz. At that time, he and Julia lived on Route 1, Box 174, Boring, Clackamas County, Oregon. He was self-employed.

In the 1920 census, he and Julia were living with his parents and brother on their farm in the Boring precinct of Clackamas County, Oregon. Adolph was a stationary engineer. Living with Adolph and Julia were his parents’ granddaughters, Anna L Larson, 5, and Julia E Larson, 4 and 5 months.
