    Notes:

    He registered for the draft on June 5, 1917, in North Kittitas, Washington. He gave his permanent address as R. R. #4, Ellensburg, although his occupation was a teacher, employed by the state, in Port Blakely. He was single and was described as being of medium height with stout build and with blue eyes and light hair.

    Later he was school superintendent.

    In the 1928 Seattle, Washington, city directory, he was principal of Foster Grade School. His address was RD9.

    In the 1930 census (indexed as Erdal), he and his family lived in Black Diamond Precinct #2, King County, Washington. He was a public school teacher. He was a veteran of the World War.

    In the 1940 census, he and his wife and daughters lived in Langley in Island County, Washington, the same place but not the same house as 1935. He was superintendent of public schools.

    Otto also registered for the World War II draft. At that time, he and Edith lived in Langley in Island County, Washington. His employer was the State of Washington, “Dept. of P. T. & D. operations.”

    May have lived and/or died in Island County, Washington.

    Dorothy (Eidal) Massey passed away peacefully on May 29, 2013 in Spokane Valley, WA with her family by her side. She was born on November 22, 1924 in Seattle, WA to Otto C. and Edith (Middendorf) Eidal. She spent her childhood, and was educated, in Black Diamond and Langley, WA. She graduated from Langley High School in 1942.

    She married Frank Massey in 1945 and they moved to Yakima, WA in 1949. She relocated to Spokane Valley, WA in 2006 to be closer to family. Dorothy retired from West Valley School District in 1988, having worked for 30 years as secretary at Mountainview Elementary and West Valley Junior High School. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and was a 50 year member and past matron of Order of Eastern Star.

    She is survived by son, Gary (Liz) Massey of Spokane Valley WA; daughter Barbara Bolm of Shelton, WA; five grandchildren, Matthew (Heather) Bolm of Port Orchard, WA, Teressa (Kirk) Oberg of Puyallup, WA, Ryan (Heather) Massey of Yakima, WA., David Massey and his fiancee Andrea Scott of Spokane Valley, WA, Courtney Massey of Seattle, WA; sister Helen Barnhart of Ellensburg, WA, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

    Dorothy was preceded in death by an infant son in 1951, her father in 1956, and her mother in 1992.

    Helen Barnhart passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 12, 2024, at the age of 97. Per Helen's wishes, there will be no formal service. Helen was born on January 20, 1927, to Otto C. & Edith M. Eidel in Enumclaw, WA. She started school in Black Diamond, WA, eventually graduating from Ellensburg High School in 1945, where she met the love of her life, Gene Barnhart. They married on February 8th, 1947, having 60 wonderful years together. By 1966, they had four children.

    After graduation, Helen went to work at the county courthouse in the Auditor's Office and worked a few other places to finally settle at what is now Old Mill Country Store, where she worked for many years. Helen was very active in the 4-H community as an assistant leader for many years. She was also Mother Advisor of Rainbow Girls and a member of Grace Chapter OES, serving as matron in 1973.

    Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Gene), and her sister Dorothy Massey. She is survived by her children Karen (Dennis) Nemeth, Kathie Gardner, Kenneth (Susan) Barnhart, Kevin (Elaine) Barnhart, as well as 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and her niece Barbara Bolm and nephew Gary Massey.

    The family would like to thank her caregiver, Kari, and the hospice team.
