    William Frank “Bill” Dotzler, age 72 of Aitkin died Friday, December 26, 2014 peacefully at his home. Bill was born May 1, 1942 in Aitkin, Minnesota the son of Frank and Sara (Banks) Dotzler. He grew up and attended schools in Aitkin graduating from the Aitkin High School in 1960. He worked for Aitkin Motor Company for several years and then Hasskamp Equipment for a time. He also worked for Al Johnson Construction growing wild rice. He also worked for Red Welshons as a herd manager for a herd of beef cattle and also worked for Triangle Sales building barns and repairing barns. He married Linda M. Stofferahn on September 27, 1969 in McGregor. They made their home out on the rice flats for a couple of years and then moved north of Aitkin and operated a dairy farm until selling the dairy operation in 2005 and he went into raising beef cattle and sheep. He also worked for Blue Valley Sod and helped grow lawn grass. He was a school bus driver for the Aitkin Independent Schools for many years and drove bus up until Christmas break. He was a member of the Mississippi Headwaters Board, the Aitkin Township Board, Central Cattleman’s Association, ASCS Board, AMPI Board of Directors and St. John’s Lutheran Church of Cedarbrook, having served on church council. He enjoyed collecting Louis L’Amour and William Johnstone western books, World War II books, toy tractors and friends. He loved deer hunting, fishing, traveling, fixing machinery and watching his crops grow, especially his corn. He enjoyed football, especially the Gobblers and Sunday afternoons with the Vikings, attending wrestling matches and dance line. In his younger years he enjoyed snowmobiling and ice fishing with his family. Above all he loved farming and driving school bus and his family. Over the years he was a surrogate dad to many neighborhood boys and he was grandpa to the children he loved so dearly on his school bus. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and good friend to many. He is survived by his mother Sara Dotzler of Aitkin; Wife: Linda Dotzler of Aitkin; Sons and daughters in law: John and Patti Dotzler of St. Petersburg, Florida; Kevin and Penni Dotzler of Aitkin; Daughter and son in law: Laura and Dean Stack of Nevis, Mn.; Brothers: Phillip (Judy) Dotzler of Aitkin, Ronald (Sharon) Dotzler of Aitkin; Donald (Carol) Dotzler of Nashwauk, Mn.; Sisters: Ruth (Gerald) Erickson of Minnetonka, Mn.; Elaine (Ron) Schafer of Oak Park, MN.; Eileen Ternus of Dent, Mn.; Grandchildren: Spencer, Molly, Justine, Step Grandchildren: Kenny, Kristina, Mitchell, and Cooper; Great Grandchildren: Landon, Ethan, Avalynn, Kaelyn, Sienna and Cora. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11 AM from St. John’s Lutheran Church at Cedarbrook with Rev. Sandy Berg Holte officiating. Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

    Donald D. Dotzler passed away Feb. 24, 2016, in his home.

    He was born March 30, 1954, in Crosby to Frank and Sara (Banks) Dotzler. He graduated from Aitkin High School where he was active in football and wrestling. He started work at Hannah Butler Mining Company (U.S. Steel), where he continued to work for 40 years. Don enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He was a loving father and husband who worked hard to provide for his family. He cared deeply for his brothers and sisters. Don adored his grandchildren. He was looking forward to retirement and spending more time with his loved ones.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Dotzler and his brother, William Dotzler.

    Donald is survived by Carol Dotzler, his loving wife of 35 years; daughters, Karly Lillo (Mike), Brainerd; Sara Karr (Kris), Deerwood; grandchildren, Payton and Addison Lillo and Nicholas and Alyssa Karr; his mother, Sara (Banks) Dotzler, Aitkin; his sisters, Ruth Erickson (Jerry), Minnetonka; Elaine Schafer (Ron), Oak Park; and Eileen Ternus Dent; his brothers, Phillip Dotzler (Judy), Aitkin, Ronald Dotzler (Sharon), Aitkin; his sister-in-law, Linda Dotzler, Aitkin; and numerous nephews and nieces.

    Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Cedarbrook.
