    He enlisted for WWII at Fort Snelling on 29 Jan 1946. He had 2 years of high school and was a farmer in civilian life. He enlisted again on 12 Apr 1946 in Fort Bliss in El Paso. In that enlistment, he was enlisting for the Panama Canal Department.

    He served in World War II as a Tech 4 in the U.S. Army.

    In the 1950 census, he and Clara lived in Lemmon in Perkins County, South Dakota. He was a telegraph operator for a railroad.

    At the time of the death of Ronald in August of 1953, he and Clara had recently moved to Riverton where he was a telegrapher for the Northern Pacific Railroad.

    NISSWA - Elvin J. Ellingboe, age 81, of Nisswa, formerly of Deerwood, died on May 14, 2007, at his home. He was born on Oct. 1, 1925, in Sunberg, Minn., to Edward and Julia (Halverson) Ellingboe. He married Clara Viola Sanvig in Glenwood, Minn., on Feb. 7, 1948. He was a Korean War Army veteran and was a member of the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post No. 557 of Deerwood and the Garrison VFW. He also was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood and the Moose Lodge in Aitkin. He was a retired depot agent for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

    He is survived by two sons, Keith Ellingboe, of Brainerd, Brian (Michelle) Ellingboe, of Robbinsdale; two daughters, Carrie Vukelich, of Nisswa, and Elizabeth "Lisa" (LeRoy Jr.) Iler, of Foley; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clara; a son, Ronald; and two sisters.

    Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood with military honors given by the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post No. 557 of Deerwood. Friends may call on Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.

    Carrie L. Vukelich, 56, of Pequot Lakes, MN died in her home on Monday, January 15, 2018. Carrie was born on March 10, 1961 in Minneapolis, MN to Elvin and Clara Ellingboe. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and being barefoot outside in the summer. Carrie’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

    Carrie is survived by her children, Mindy Vukelich, Randi Molby, and Heather Vukelich; seven grandchildren, Talib, Abigail, Sterling, Ayva, Jayda, Jemma, and Jace; and three siblings, Keith Ellingboe, Lisa Iler, and Brian Ellingboe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Clara Ellingboe; first husband, Michael Vukelich; and second husband, Kim Holden.
