Ardel Luvella Breese, 96, of Arlington Heights, Illinois, formerly of South Beloit, Illinois, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Church Creek Nursing Home in Arlington Heights. Ardel was born on June 16, 1916 in Swift County, Minnesota the daughter of Ove and Lena (Ostgulen) Quale. In 1933, she graduated from Benson High School in Minnesota and then attended the Minneapolis Business College. Ardel married Robert W. Dick on November 21, 1942. He was killed in Normandy, France on July 13, 1944 while serving as a medical in the United States Army. Ardel enlisted in the Women's Army Corps on September 23, 1944 and served as a nurses aid until January 26, 1946. She married Claude J. Breese on January 1, 1946 in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He died on September 24, 2000. Over the years, Ardel had numerous part-time jobs as waitress, store clerk, secretary, and nurses aid. Mostly she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. She enjoyed taking family vacations, and camping. Ardel is survived by her daughter, Jenanne (Richard) Brown of Peoria, Arizona, son, Richard J. Monroeville, Ala. - Funeral services for Alvin Quale, 96, of Monroeville, formerly of Tioga, N.D., will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 5, at First Lutheran Church in Tioga. The Rev. Chris Montgomery will officiate and burial will be in United Cemetery, Tioga. Alvin Gunther Quale was born July 4, 1904, in Benson, Minn., to Ole and Julia (Overbo) Quale. He was raised on their homestead northwest of Ray, where he attended Dillon School and Ray High School, graduating in 1925. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1920 at Rainbow Valley Lutheran Church. In 1928, Alvin became the Standard Oil bulk agent in Tioga, retiring from that job in 1963. He was united in marriage to Jennie Eskeland on June 21, 1933. They subsequently made their home on north main in Tioga for 64 years and raised their three children there. During his years in Tioga, he was active in the Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Tioga School Board, was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and was active in the First Lutheran Church. After Alvin's retirement in 1963, they spent a number of years traveling to various places during the winter months. The Quales moved to Alabama to be close to their daughter, LaDonna, in 1997. Alvin died at the Englewood Health Care Center in Monroeville on Tuesday, May 29, 2001. He is survived by two daughters, Verona Skabo and her husband, Ron, of Lakewood, Colo., and LaDonna Herring and her husband, Dick, of Monroeville, Ala.; four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie; son Corvin; one granddaughter; his parents; five brothers; and three sisters.

The daughter of Olney & Helen Quale, she was the second of three children. She attended Lowell Grade School & Madison East High School Class of 1951. She attended UW Whitewater Teachers College and MATC. She was united in marriage to Russel R. Ebert on March 19, 1953. Together they made Madison their home, where they raised 6 children.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and a loyal friend. She was gracious, generous, witty and very proud of her Norwegian heritage. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Bingo, antiques & creating miniature Christmas Trees. She was known for her high fashion but also loved fishing with her husband. Ruth worked at Stevens House of Gifts & American Family Insurance.
She will be remembered & missed by her loving family & friends. She is survived by her children Daniel Ebert, Timothy (Kim) Ebert, Nancy Juckem, Laura (Pete) Armstrong, Lisa (Terry) Brennan-Choate, Bobby (Tina) Ebert. Grand-children, Michelle, Sarah, Catherine, Lindsey, Chris, Preston, Logan, Libby, Tessa & Kayla. Great-Grandchildren, Piper, Roman, Sutton, Holden and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Alice Ehlers, age 72, of Dallas, died on Thursday evening, July 13, 2006, at her home. Mary was born in Madison on May 11, 1934, daughter of Olney and Helen Quale. Her childhood in Madison was a simple, joyful life highlighted by adventures with her brother, Paul and sister, Ruth. A National Honor Society graduate of Madison East High School, Mary went on to receive a degree in music, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin in 1955. Married in 1956 to David O. Ehlers, also from Madison, they moved their growing family to South Florida. Mary was an active participant in her six children's lives and continued her church activities as well as a fondness for ballroom dancing. Mary moved her family to Irving, Texas, in 1977 and worked as a medical receptionist for Dr. Georgia Doyle. After retiring from DeVry University in 2001, Mary became very involved in activities at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church of Dallas and traveled often to see her children and grandchildren across the country. She was a beloved sister, mother, wife, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed. Survivors include former father-in-law, S.C. Ehlers of Madison; former husband, David O. Ehlers of Las Vegas, Nev.; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Judith Ehlers of Dansville, Mich.; daughter, Karen Ehlers of Euless, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Deborah Ehlers of Boca Raton, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Richard DeYoung of Houston, Texas; son, Scott Ehlers of Dallas, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Russ Ebert of Madison; former sister-in-law, Phyllis Quale of Madison; along with five nieces, four nephews and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olney and Helen Quale; her brother, Paul Quale; her son, Steven Ehlers; and her granddaughter, Nicole Morgan DeYoung. The memorial service was held on Monday, July 17, 2006, at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, 9200 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX 75220-3901, (214) 691-4721. Her ashes will be cast upon various locations throughout the United States during a private family vacation.
