Martin, Hattie, and Ruth were living at 2900 Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis at the time of the 1910 census. Martin was a teamster. In that census, he claimed to have emigrated in 1906 and Hattie in 1882.

Registered for the draft on September 12, 1918, in Hopkins, Minnesota. At that time, he lived at Richfield Station, Route 3, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a plasterer for George Suffern of 3805 Park Avenue South in Minneapolis. Martin is described as of medium height and build with blue eyes and light hair.

In the 1920 census (as Klefstead), the family was living at 5852 2nd Avenue South in Richfield. Martin was a plastering contractor.

Martin and Hattie were farming in Lakeville at the time of the 1930 census.

Martin married Hattie NICHOLS on 27 Mar 1909 in Olmsted County, Minnesota. Hattie (daughter of Frederick NICHOLS and Ernestine BEHR) was born on 13 Oct 1880 in Germany; died on 3 Jul 1959 in Rice County, Minnesota; was buried in Northfield City Cemetery, Rice County, Minnesota. Margaret Oline (Klefstad) Ellingboe

Ellingboe Margaret Oline (Klefstad) Ellingboe was born in Chinook, MT on August 25, 1912 to Martin & Hattie Klefstad. She grew up in Scott County, MN and attended St. Cloud State Teachers College. Her first teaching job was in a rural schoolhouse in Scott County where she met Arthur Ellingboe. She and Arthur were married on June 17, 1936 and farmed in rural Scott and Dakota counties. Margaret and Arthur moved from the farm to Northfield in 1948 and later to their long time home in Waterford where they raised their two sons, Richard and John. Margaret continued to teach school in Castle Rock, Randolph and Greenvale Elementary in Northfield. She retired from teaching in 1977. Margaret died on Thursday, May 29, 2003 at the Northfield Care Center at the age of 90. She is survived by sons, Richard (Debera) of Eugene, OR and John (Catherine Cella) of Edina, MN; grandchildren, Michael (Monica), Deborah (Don Heeman), Stephen (Lisa), Christopher, Peter, Mary, Sarah, and Anna Ellinboe; great- grandchildren, Austin and Collin Ellinboe; sister, Helen Hill; sisters-in-law, Anna and Veola Ellingboe, Beulah (Lloyd) Luckman, Helen Henry, Evelyn (Gaylord) Horwath; brother-in-law, John Menne; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, who died in January of this year; her parents; and her sister, Ruth. Funeral Services will be 1 PM Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Northfield. Burial at Red Rose Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 6:30-8 PM at the Northfield Care Center Chapel. Arrangements by the Bierman Funeral Home, Northfield.

The 1960 Northfield city directory shows Mrs. Margaret Ellingboe as a teacher at Castle Rock School. In the 1972 city directory, she is a teacher at Greenvale Park School.

Ellingboe is survived by two sons, Richard (Debera)of Eugene, Ore, and John (Catherine Cella)of Edina; eight grandchildren, Michael (Monica), Deborah (Don Heeman), Stephen (Lisa), Christopher, Peter, Mary, Sarah and Anna Ellingboe; two great-grandchildren, one sister, Helen Hill; five sisters-in-law, Anna and Veola Ellingboe, Beulah (Lloyd)Luckman, Helen Henry, and Evelyn (Gaylord) Horwath; one brother-in-law, John Menne; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, who died in January; her parents; and one sister, Ruth.

Punkie was hit by a car as she darted across a rural Ramsey County highway to get to her grandfather’s newspaper from a delivery box. She had been living with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Payton, in St. Paul while her mother visited her father, Pvt. Wayne F. Hill, at Fort Riley, Kansas.

She was a student at the time that she died. Her regular address, presumably that of her parents as well, was in Watson, Minnesota, in Chippewa County. She had come to the hospital the day before.
