    Funeral services for Oscar Albert Bonde, former resident of Nerstrand, were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Nerstrand with the Rev. V. A. Jensen officiating. Mrs. Conrad Gaasedelen sang a vocal solo and one vocal selection was sung by the grandchildren. Victor Radtke, Wilhelm Vesledahl, Helmer Mohn, Harold Mosher, Ingebrit Engeseth and Harris Quie were pallbearers. Interment was in the Valley Grove cemetery. Oscar Albert Bonde passed away at the Kenyon Sunset Home on Sunday, Jan. 3, after an extended illness, at the age of 87 years.

    The son of Tosten and Ingeborg Hougen Bonde, he was born at Nerstrand, on March 3, 1883. He attended the public school at Nerstrand. June 19, 1919 he was united in marriage to Clara Severson. They resided on the Bonde Homestead until his retirement in 1954, continuing to live in the Nerstrand community until 1965 when he became a resident of the Kenyon Sunset Home where he resided until his death. One granddaughter preceded him in death.

    He is survived by his wife Clara, three sons, Earl and Harold of Nerstrand, Robert of St. Louis Park; two daughters; Alice (Mrs. Herman Stenbakken) of Kenyon, and Helen (Mrs. Richard Lodmill) of Edina, also, twenty-two grandchildren.

    Oscar married Clara Bertine SEVERSON in 1919. Clara (daughter of Johannes Olsen SEVERSON and Anna Severine VOLD) was born on 21 May 1896 in Goodhue County, Minnesota; died on 14 Mar 1979 in Goodhue County, Minnesota; was buried in Valley Grove Cemetery, Wheeling Twp, Rice County, Minnesota.     Alice Irene Stenbakken 87, of Kenyon, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Kenyon Sunset Home.

    She was born January 27, 1923 in Wheeling Township, Minnesota the daughter of Oscar and Clara (Severson) Bonde. She grew up on the family farm by Nerstrand. Alice graduated from Faribault High School, and then graduated from Deaconess School of Nursing as an RN in 1947. Alice married Herman Stenbakken June 19, 1948, and the couple later divorced. She then worked as a RN at the Northfield Hospital, and then at the Kenyon Sunset Home, where she later became the director of nursing. She enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, and visiting with family and friends.

    She is survived by her daughters Carol Stenbakken, Diane Rasmussen, and Elaine Kraling all of Kenyon, six grandchildren Ann, Michael, and Jenny Kraling, Eddie, David, and Sarah Rasmussen. She is also survived by one sister Helen (Richard) Lodmill of Seattle, three brothers Earl (Charlotte) Bonde of Nerstrand, Robert (Carol) Bonde of Minneapolis, and Harold (Anne) Bonde of Nerstrand.

    Earl Bonde, 86, of Nerstrand died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at his home due to complications from a rare disease called Amyloidosis.

    Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Nerstrand on Monday, April 11, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Judy Gustafson officiating. Interment will be at Valley Grove Cemetery, Nerstrand.

    Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Sunday, April 10, 2011, from 2 to 6 p.m. and also at the church for one hour prior to the service on Monday.

    Earl was born Feb. 22, 1925, the son of Oscar and Clara (Severson) Bonde. He was baptized on April 12, 1925, Easter Sunday, at home by the Rev. Rolf Rosenquist. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Houglum on May 22, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Medford. He grew up on the family farm in Nerstrand, which he farmed with his brother Harold, and later with son Bill and nephews Gary and John. Earl was involved in many community organizations, including Grace Lutheran Church, Lenten Community Men's Choir, Valley Grove Cemetery Association, Farm Bureau, Federal Land Bank and Nerstrand Elevator Board. He loved spending time with family and friends. His life was richly blessed with many loving stories and memories. Earl loved his Norwegian heritage; both he and Charlotte enjoyed traveling several times to their native country. He was a longtime bowler still trying to achieve the perfect game in his early 80s. Earl loved to read, play games with his grandchildren and Freecell on the computer.

    He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; six children, Steve and (Linda) Bonde, Bill and (Barb) Bonde, Gerald and (Denise) Bonde, Pete and (Julie) Bonde, Karen Bonde (Carla Kennedy), and Kris Bonde; 11 grandchildren, Marcus, Kyle and Angie, Nate and Nicole, Blake, Evan and Merri, Jacob, Karl and Luke; two brothers, Robert and (Carol) Bonde, Harold and (Anne) Bonde; one sister, Helen and (Dick) Lodmill; and many nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Stenbakken and a grandson, Hans Bonde.
