    Patricia Nuffer, age 85 of Hills, MN died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Tuff Memorial Home of Hills.

    Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 16th at the United Methodist Church in Luverne, MN, with Rev. Theodora Hull officiating.

    Private family burial will follow the meal at Pleasant View Cemetery rural Luverne, MN.

    Visitation will be Friday, February 15th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills.

    Patricia Lou Nuffer was born April 12, 1927 in St. Paul, MN. She graduated from Hills High School and attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. Patricia met her husband to be, Cletus Nuffer, while they both were playing the clarinet in the high school band and on December 12, 1946 they were united in marriage at Salem Evangelical Church in Fairmont, MN. To this union six children were born. She and her husband farmed near Hills. Patricia was a member of the United Methodist Church in Luverne, MN. She took part in the Extension Club in Hills, the Women's Church Circle and the Friendship Club. She enjoyed embroidery.

    Patricia is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Morris) Fick of Luverne, MN; Cleo (Mark) Granneman of Northfield, MN; Allen (Sue) Nuffer of Hills, MN; George (Jo) Nuffer of Sioux Falls, SD; Mary (Rick) Martens of Madison, SD; Janice Nuffer of Steen, MN; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Qualley; husband, Cletus Nuffer; granddaughter, Jamie Nuffer.

    Notes:

    Janice Kay Nuffer was born in Luverne, MN, on July 20, 1947, to Cletus and Patricia (Qualley) Nuffer. She grew up on a farm north of Hills. The oldest of 6 children, she graduated from Hills High School in 1965. After graduating, Janice attended Worthington Community College. From there, she transferred to Mankato State University, where she graduated with a major in Elementary Education/Special Education.

    Her 1st teaching position was in Philip, SD. From there, she taught at a country school in Philip, SD. Eventually, she resumed her education at Mankato State University, where she graduated with a 6-year Specialist Degree. She then served as Elementary Principal at Morgan, MN. Her next position was as Superintendent/Principal at the Magnolia School, Magnolia, MN. After leaving that position, she worked at Morgan Stanley-Dean Witter, Sioux Falls, SD. After retiring from that position, due to increasing health problems related to her 40-year battle with rheumatoid arthritis, she became a full-time aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

    Janice valued education and was an avid reader. She is fondly remembered as an aunt who had a knack for picking out good books for kids to read. In her later years, she was a master of the computer and her iPhone. She took a special shine to grand nieces, Afton and Aubrey. Part of her daily routine was picking them up from school along with friend, Kelsey Baker. She brought them to her house where she fed and tutored them, until their parents could pick them up.

    Janice is survived by her 5 siblings: Mary (Rick) Martens, Madison, SD; George (JoAnn) Nuffer, Johnstown, CO; Allen (Sue) Nuffer, Hills, MN; Cleo (Mark) Granneman, Northfield, MN; and Beth (Morris) Fick, Luverne, MN. She is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews, 38 great nieces and nephew, with another great nephew scheduled to join the family in February.

    She was proceeded in death by her parents, Cletus and Pat Nuffer, and a niece, Jamie Nuffer.
