  1. 1.  Janet Violet WALLIN was born on 3 Jun 1941 in Isanti County, Minnesota; died on 17 Jan 2011 in Omak, Okanogan County, Washington.

    Notes:

Janet Violet (Wallin) Onasch, 69, of Omak, Wash., passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 17, 2011, one week post heart surgery. She moved to Washington in 1989 and worked for the IRS until her retirement.

Janet was born June 3, 1941 in Cambridge to Kermit and Violet (Godeen) Wallin. Onasch graduated from Cambridge High School in 1958. She was married to Sheldon Onasch from 1958 to 1978, and they had two daughters.

Along with her mother and her daughters, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Meadow Creek Baptist Church in Anoka. Her love for Christ continued throughout her life.

Onasch's hobbies included raising her “puppies,” growing beautiful flowers, and country music. Onasch had a tender heart and love for her “puppies.” Over the years, she had several toy poodles (Shotsie, Sassy, Winnie), ending with Macy, her Bichon Frise. Macy will be cared for by her companion of 24 years, David Birkholz.

While raising her daughters, she opened a music store in her home (Nashwood Music) and gave piano and guitar lessons. She had a special love for pedal steel guitars and this is what her music store specialized in. She also was the president and founder of the International Pedal Steel Guitar Association and was the editor of their monthly newsletters. As president of the Int’l Pedal Steel Guitar Association, she hosted outdoor music festivals in her own back yard.

Throughout 1978-1980, Onasch was the leader of a local country music band named Tequila Sunrise. They traveled throughout the state of Minnesota, playing country music at various nightclubs.

Onasch is survived by her mother; her daughters Kimberly Holmes (Ken) of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Rebecca Nesset (Kevin) of Wyoming, Minn.; companion David Birkholz of Omak, Wash.; sister-in-law Sandy Wallin of Anoka; brother Michael Wallin (Arlene) of Elk River; and four grandchildren: David Kaspszak, Brianna Nesset, Brittany Nesset and Nicole Holmes.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father (who always called her Jenny); and her brother Roger.

Janet married Sheldon ONASCH on 13 Dec 1958 in Isanti County, Minnesota, and was divorced on 3 Oct 1978 in Anoka County, Minnesota. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
