  1. 4.  Thomas Glenn TORRISON Descendancy chart to this point (3.Glenn3, 2.Clara2, 1.Knut1) was born on 7 Apr 1956 in Manitowoc, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin; died on 11 Dec 2009 in Two Rivers, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin; was buried in Valders Cemetery, Valders, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.

    Notes:

Tom Torrison, age 53, of 1240 West Upper Falls Road, Reedsville, died on Friday, Dec. 11, at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers after a very courageous battle with leukemia and kidney disease. He died with his loving family around him.

Tom was born in Manitowoc on April 7, 1956 to Ruth (Bronk) Torrison and the late Glenn Torrison. He graduated from Valders High School in 1974. Tom worked for Valders Stone and Marble for 20 years. He then worked for Specification Stone Products Inc. for 15 years, which was a Glawe Company based out of Alpena, Mich., but they quarried stone in Hayton, Wis. In 2008, Michels Corporation purchased the Hayton quarry business. Since then, Tom was employed at Anderson Bros. and Johnson, a division of Michels Corporation. He worked until September 2009 when illness caused him to quit. Tom made many close friends throughout his 37 years of work and was known as the "Rock Monster" and "Big Cheese."

Tom was involved in many activities at Faith Lutheran Church. He was an usher, sexton of the Valders West Cemetery and especially enjoyed singing in the Praise Band and the Men's Choir at Faith.

Tom was also a member of the Viking Sno-Riders and Seagulls. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and helping out at the Valders horseshoe and ball diamond on Thursday nights. In December, he always looked forward to being Santa for families and events.

Tom didn't have a lot of hobbies other than landscaping at home and sitting around campfires with family and friends. If fun was involved, he would be right there to join in. In Tom's words, he liked low-volume activities such as sitting in a lawn chair in the shade with a cooler nearby. Visiting with family and friends was good entertainment for him.

He is survived by his mother: Ruth Torrison of Reedsville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Susan (Warren) Wenzel of Chilton, Beverly Torrison of Reedsville and Karen (Duane) Martin of Jackson, Wis.; two nieces and two nephews: Jennifer (Kevin) Lau, Michael Wenzel and Jared and Ashley Martin; and one great-niece: Brooke Lau. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father (Glenn) and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at Faith Lutheran Church in Valders. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Jim Rasmus. Burial will be at Valders West Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at Faith Lutheran Church from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, and from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, prior to the service.

This is a personal message written by Tom:
I would like to thank the nurses at Aurora Medical Center on the third floor for the wonderful care given to me and the sincere friendly chats and jokes throughout my many stays. Special thanks to Dr. Barylak and his crew of nurses and true friends at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic. They were so thoughtful and caring that even being sick, I looked forward to going to the clinic. You are an exceptional group of individuals and we certainly had many good times together. Thank God for people like you.

Tom was a very kind, generous, and fun-loving person who will be greatly missed by family and everyone who knew him.
