Funeral services for Gwen Pearson of Warroad will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 10 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7 PM with a 6:30 prayer services at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad. Interment will be at the Norland Cemetery in Salol.

Gwen Marie Pearson of Warroad passed away on August 12, 2010 at her home in Warroad at the age of 73.

Gwen was born on April 16, 1937 in Pinecreek, MN to Thelma (Nyhus) and Juel Ellenson. She attended grade school at SunnySide School Dist. 111 in Norland Township (where her mother taught) for four years and then in Salol. She graduated from Roseau High School in 1955.

She and Maynard Pearson were married at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau on June 16, 1956.

In addition to being an exceptional mother and homemaker, Gwen worked as a deli manager for a period of years.

She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, scrap booking, collecting American Girl dolls and Precious Moments, fishing, gardening, playing scrabble, or any game with her family. Her best friend was Maynard, and her greatest joy in life was her time spent with family and friends. She will be remembered as a terrific cook, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of 4-H, Homemakers, Ladies Aid, and Auxiliaries.

She is survived by her husband, Maynard of Warroad; mother, Thelma of Warroad; and a sister, Susan Didier of Arlington, TX. Children, Vicki (Gary) Boekelheide of Warroad, Jeff (Paulette) of Salol, Jodi (Rod) Stomberg of Warroad, and Susi (Rod) Putney of Prior Lake, MN; 14 grandchildren, Jessica Watson, Chelsea Boekelheide, Kirsten Boekelheide, Jeremy Pearson, Amy (Joe) Kramer, Justin Pearson, Amanda Bolstad, Derek Stomberg, Brent Stomberg, Deserai Stomberg, Kayla Stomberg, Alicia Putney, Garrett Putney, Brenna Putney; 5 great-grandchildren, Chelsea Pearson, Jacob Pearson, Treyton Stomberg, Shelby Stomberg and Kian Stomberg.

She was preceded in death by her father, Juel; brother, Allen; sister, Karla Landin; and grandson, Beau Putney.
