    In the 1910 Norwegian census, she is a widow living on Ellingbø under 33, under 1. The five-person household includes her daughter, Ingrid Tomasdatter Ellingbø, b. 1874.09.29.

    Jim said that she became the second wife of Tomas Tomassen of Haugen on Nedre Kvåle (1835-1886). She married just one year after Ole Throndsen Ellingboe’s letter. Otherwise she would have inherited her father’s farm. Instead, her younger sister, Sigrid, inherited the farm.

    Guri married Thomas Thomasen Dy HAUGEN in 1867. Thomas (son of Thomas Thomassen HAUGEN and Ingrid Thomasdatter NETRØST) was born in 1835 in Vang i Valdres, Oppland, Norway; died in 1886. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    From the Faribault Daily News, Jan. 15, 1954:

    Funeral services were conducted at the Vang Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 1:30 p.m. for Mrs. Marit T. Estrem, 77, who passed away Sunday afternoon at her home in Dennison after an illness of several years. The Rev. B. J. Blikstad, pastor of the Dennison Lutheran Parish officiated. Interment was at the Vang Cemetery. Pallbearers were: William Swarts, Gordon Ostenson, Even Halverson, A. J. Bestul, Phillip Hauge and L. C. Davenport. Mrs. Blikstad sand "Heaven Is My Home" and "Forbliv Hos Mig", with Mrs. Cyrus Midje as the organist. Marit Haugen, daughter of Thomas and Guri Haugen, was born November 20, 1876, in Valders, Norway and was baptized and confirmed in the Vang Church there. In 1900, at the age of 24, she came to this country and on July 3, 1905 was married to Nels J. Estrem, of Dennison, at Red Wing. They lived in Dennison and community ever since. Mr. Estrem, a son Alfred and a daughter, Mrs. Selma Carlson preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Herman (Thea) Vorlander of Dennison; two sons, Thomas of Dennison and Norman of St. Paul; one granddaughter, Bertha Carlson and one grandson, John Estrem of Dennison. Attending the funeral from away were: Mr. and Mrs. William Vorlander and Gene Lindgren of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. George Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Estrem of St. Paul and a number of friends from nearby towns.
