    There were two Christopher Lockrems born at about the same time in Vang. The other one (#25778) was born 3 Nov 1830 (bapt. 16 Dec) to Lars Christopherson Lockrem and Anne Østensdatter. Both Christophers raised families in or near Goodhue County, Minnesota.

    This one, a first cousin of the one born in 1830, married one of his 1st cousins.

    In the 1870 census, he and “Jane” lived in Warsaw Twp, Goodhue County. The household consisted of Christopher, 39, Jane, 31, Edward, 11, Annie, 9, Andrew, 7, Augustus, 3, Malina, 2, and Lauritz, 6 months.

    In the 1880 census, he (mis-indexed as Lachsenn) and his wife and 8 children lived in Stony Run Twp, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. The household consisted of Christopher, 49, Gertrue, 43, Edward B., 21, Anna G., 19, Andrew K., 17, Augustus S., 14, Malina, 12, Lauritz, 10, Sofia, 6, and Julia, 4.

    From HISTORY OF THE MINNESOTA VALLEY, published in 1882. Chr. Lockrem was born in Norway in 1831; immigrated in 1849 and settled in Dane County, Wisconsin, afterward worked at tinner’s trade in Chicago, Cambridge and Janesville; moved to Independence, Iowa, and followed his trade three years. In 1856 he began farming in Rice County, Minnesota, and ten years later moved to Goodhue County; in 1873 he came to this town and bought 160 acres on section 36. He has held various town offices in this and other counties. In 1858 he married Gertrude Lien in Rice County; they have nine children living.

    Christopher married Gertrude Endresdatter LIEN in 1858 in Rice County, Minnesota. Gertrude (daughter of Endre Olssen SEPTUN and Anne Christophersdatter LØKREIM) was born in Oct 1836 in Vang i Valdres, Oppland, Norway; died in 1892 in Day County, South Dakota. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    The ELCA records show Andreas Claudius Lockrem was born 17 Jan 1863 and was baptized in the Holden Lutheran Church in Goodhue County. His parents are Christopher Ivarson and Gjertrud Endresdatter. This Andrew had an older brother, also named Andrew Claudius, who was born 15 Jan 1860 and died 28 Jan 1860. This 1863 Andrew also had a younger brother Andrew, b. 12 Aug 1865, d. 5 Jan 1898.

    In the 1910 census, he and Christine and their two children lived in Sanders Twp, Pennington County, with his wife’s parents, Rasmus and Johnna Aaseby. He is shown in that census as a farm laborer.

    In the 1920 census (mis-indexed as H K Lockrem), he and his wife and their four children farmed in Sanders Twp, Pennington County. A K is the head of household. Also in the household is his father-in-law Rasmus Aaseby, now a widower.

    In the 1930 census, he and his family still live, and farm, in Sanders Twp.

    In the 1940 census, he and his wife and their three sons lived in Sanders Twp.

    Andrew married Christiana AASEBY on 24 Sep 1905 in Red Lake County, Minnesota. Christiana was born on 23 Jun 1879; died on 11 Oct 1961 in Pennington County, Minnesota. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
