    His birth certificate was amended on June 22, 1964, to add his first and middle names (previous “Babe”).

    Married in Bethel Lutheran Church, Madison, Wisconsin.

    In the 1950 census, he and his wife and three children lived in Janesville.

    His last residence, according to the SSDI, was Nokomis, Sarasota, Florida.

    A notice of his death in the Northfield News in February of 1974 referred to him as Dr. Myron C. Austinson. He was pastor at the First Lutheran Church in Janesville, Wisconsin, prior to becoming Bishop.

    His first wife’s obit referred to him as the president of the ALC’s southern Wisconsin district.

    John Siljan Austinson, age 90, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter on July 30, 2022.

    John was born on March 12, 1932 in Havre, MT.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Frieda Theresa (Siljan) and Myron Conrad Austinson; and his sisters, Marget Stiegler (Austinson) and Nordis Johnson (Austinson).

    John will be remembered for the passion he brought to all his endeavors and the tender loving heart he showed to family and friends. John was a devoted and caring father to his three children. He majored in history at St. Olaf College and Milton College and loved history throughout his life. John excelled in sales. He was Midwest salesman of the year for Encyclopedia Britannica and owned a successful coin dealership for many years.

    John retired in Sun City, AZ in 1994. During retirement, he loved listening to the Great Courses history lectures and William W. Johnstone's Western novels and watching the Western Channel. When his failing health permitted, he enjoyed the weekly Bible Study on Zoom with Pastor Gary Luallin (Sun City, AZ).

    John is survived by his wife, Cecilia "Sue" (Masilko); his daughter, Karen (Brad) Lewis; two stepsons, John Booker, and Phillip (Julie) Booker; a grandson, Austin Thompson; three nieces, Sara Johnson Sullivan, Kirsten (Rich Lay) Lysne, and Marit (James Rosati) Lysne; and four nephews, Waldo Johnson, III, Michael Johnson, Mark Johnson, and Erik Lysne.

    An interment will take place at American Lutheran Church of Sun City, AZ.

    Nordis Austinson Johnson, age 86, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her four children, on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Nordis was born on December 5, 1935, in Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents Frieda Theresa (Siljan) and Myron Conrad Austinson; sister Marget Stiegler (Austinson); and husband, Waldo Stevens Johnson, Jr.

    Throughout her life, Nordis balanced her many roles with selfless dedication and grace. She was a devoted wife of an ELCA Lutheran pastor, Waldo, who served multiple congregations, in Eau Claire, WI; Minneapolis, MN; Evanston, IL; Superior, WI; and Wausau, WI. Nordis was a steadfast partner in this ministry. Alongside her service within these churches, Nordis developed professional careers as a teacher and a real estate agent. She received her B.A. from St. Olaf College in 1958; an M.A. in Education from St. Thomas University in 1975; and the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) designation in MN and IL. She taught at Jefferson High School, Bloomington, MN, and as a college English professor at the University of Wisconsin in Superior, WI. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic educational organization. Amidst all of this, Nordis raised four children, maintained beautiful homes, and hosted countless church and family gatherings.

    Nordis is survived by her brother, John (Sue) Austinson; daughter, Sara Johnson Sullivan; three sons, Waldo Stevens Johnson III; Michael Johnson; and Mark Johnson; two grandchildren, Emily (Jacob) Larsen; Julia Johnson; three nieces, Kirsten (Rich Lay) Lysne; Marit (James Rosati) Lysne; Karen (Marshall) Lewis; and nephew Erik Lysne.

    Nordis married Waldo Stevens JOHNSON on 27 Dec 1957 in Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin. Waldo was born on 8 Aug 1929 in Montevideo, Chippewa County, Minnesota; died on 6 Jul 2008 in Hennepin County, Minnesota. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
