    Clarence Benjamin Nystuen, 90, died Saturday, January 28, 2006 in Payson, Arizona. Clarence was born November 13, 1915 in Northfield, Minnesota to Eliam and Emma Nystuen. The family attended Bethel Lutheran Church, founded by his Grandfather, John T. Nystuen. He attended a neighborhood one-room schoolhouse through 8th grade and then attended Northfield High School, graduating in 1935. While still in High School, he and his older brother, Maurice, took over the family farm. Clarence was an innovative farmer, always ready to try the newest equipment and methods. Clarence married Betty Batson of Castle Rock, Minnesota on March 20, 1947. They had 3 daughters while in Minnesota. Clarence was involved in the Northfield Saddle Club, serving as President for several years. In 1959, Clarence and Betty sold the family farm, moving to Montana briefly, where their 4th daughter was born. They then settled in Casa Grande, Arizona where Clarence sold farm machinery for Bingham Equipment for the next 25 years. After retiring in 1985, Clarence and Betty moved to Payson, Arizona where Clarence spent his time collecting antiques, shopping at yard sales and visiting with friends, neighbors and out-of-town guests. He was a life-long Republican. Clarence is survived by Betty, his wife of almost 59 years; three daughters: Becky Alvizo of Casa Grande, Carol Nystuen of Tempe, and Linda Nystuen of Casa Grande; six grandchildren: Elizabeth Alvizo and Joanna Duncan of Tucson, Steve Wilson of Tempe, Sonja Wilson of Flagstaff, Bethany and Jennifer Benedict of Casa Grande; one great-grandson, Jerris Duncan of Tucson; and many favorite nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Pamela Betty Nystuen; two brothers: Elmer and Maurice Nystuen; two sisters: Mabel Arneson and Helen Miller, all of Minnesota. A memorial service is scheduled for High Noon on Saturday, February 4 at Payson United Methodist Church, 414 N Easy Street, Payson, AZ 85541. A memorial service will also be held in Northfield, Minnesota at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Payson Kids, 300 W Wade Lane, Payson, AZ 85541, or your favorite charity.     Notes:

    Funeral services for Pamela, 3½ year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nystuen (Betty Batson) of near Northfield were held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 4, first at the home and later at Bethel Lutheran church, Northfield, with Rev. Russell J. Quanbeck, pastor officiating. Pamela, died Sunday, Nov. 30, at 2:00 p.m., from a rare blood infection at Northfield hospital, after only 20 hours of serious illness. Mrs. Henry Evert sang, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" at the home; she sang, "Jesus Loves Me", which was Pamela's favorite hymn and "A Christian's Goodnight" at the church. Pastor Quanbeck spoke on the test Mark 9: 30-37, pointing out that it is as little children, with their faith, that we enter the kingdom of heaven. Interment was in Oaklawn cemetery. Nortfield with four cousins as pallbearers: Merlyn Schonning, Ben, Gerald and David Nystuen. Pamela was a born February 8, 1949 at Northfield and baptized April 3, 1949 at Bethel Lutheran church by Rev. Quanbeck. She died November 30, 1952. Survivors are her parents, one sister, Rebecca Ann, 14 months; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Batson of Castle Rock; Mrs. Emma Nystuen of Northfield.
