    In the 1920 census, he is Charley Thoren, 60, living with his family in Benson. He was a plasterer for houses.

    In the 1930 census, he was no longer working. He and his wife and his three daughters still lived in Benson in a house they own. It’s a pretty nice house, worth $5000. He came to the U.S. in 1881.

    In the 1940 census, he was a widower and was living with his widowed daughter Helen and her family in Torning Twp.

    She lived with her parents and siblings in Benson in the 1930 census.

    In the 1940 census, she was a young widow living with her father and four childen in Torning Twp in Swift County in the same house in which Helen and the boys had lived five years earlier. Helen had an 8th grade education. She had no occupation. She owned the farm and it was worth $1900.

    She may be the Helene M Ellingboe, b. 4 Feb 1908 in “other country”, d. 19 Oct 1988 in Los Angeles County, California. Her mother’s maiden name is shown as Thoren. The SSDI has the birth date for that Helen as 14 Mar 1910.

    According to the obit for her son Richard, “at a very young age, [Olaf] passed away and later on [Helene] became ill, leaving the four children being placed into foster care.” In particular, Richard spent the rest of his young years being raised by foster parents in Sunburg.

    She may be the Helen Ellingboe listed in the 1948 Minneapolis city directory as residing at 1408 Spruce Place and working as a helper at Gross Bros Kronick.

    Helen married Olaf E ELLINGBOE on 19 Apr 1930 in Swift County, Minnesota.     At a very young age, his father passed away and later on his mother became ill, leaving the four children being placed into foster care. Richard spent the rest of his years being raised on a farm in Sunburg, MN, with foster parents Albert and Hannah Kerkaboe.

    In 1951, Richard graduated from Kerkhoven High School in Kerkhoven, MN. He then proudly served in the United States Army. Stationed in Germany, Richard drove tank until being discharged in April of 1963.

    In June of 1965, Richard met the love his life, Eileen Reinke, while they were attendants in a wedding. On Aug. 27, 1966, Richard and Eileen exchanged wedding vows at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jordan. Moving to Shakopee, they welcomed three sons into their family, Allen, Mark and Kevin. For over 35 years, Richard worked for Land O Lakes Feed Mill in Minneapolis, where he unloaded rail cars. For many years, he also worked at Freemont Industries in Shakopee at night. Upon retiring, Richard still continued to work part-time at Kmart Distribution Center in Shakopee.

    In his spare time, Richard loved spending time at his foster parents farm, which later was passed down to him. Meticulous about the lawn, he loved cutting lawn with his John Deere tractor. In earlier years, Richard enjoyed camping on Memorial Day weekends with his boys. In later years, he loved traveling to Branson, MO and out west with his wife, fishing with his children and hunting deer and pheasants.

    A man of strong faith, Richard and Eileen joined Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1977. His biggest passion in life was his grandchildren. Richard loved attending their sporting events, taking them to stores and sharinag his candy jar with them. One of the biggest celebrations of the year fell on July 28, as Richard and Eileen shared the same birthday.

    A husband, father and grandfather of strong will, a good heart and hard working, Richard was always proud and a determine fighter. A resident of Shakopee and at the age of 78, Richard passed away peacefully surrounded by his family the early evening of Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

    Richard will always be loved and missed deeply by his wife of 45 years, Eileen; sons, Allen (Robin) Ellingboe, Mark (Leah) Ellingboe, Kevin (Tara) Ellingboe, all of Shakopee; grandchildren, Christopher, Meghan, Dylan, Brandon and Kylen; brother, Charles (Emilie) Ellingboe of New Port: sister, Margie Jorgenson of Starbuck; sister-in-law, Joanne Ellingboe of Minneapolis; mother-in-law, Stella Reinke of Jordan; sister and brother-in law, Joan and Norman Frey of Shakopee; nieces, nephews and friends. Richard is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence Ellingboe; father-in-law, Charles Reinke; brother-in-law, LuVern Jorgenson.

    The visitation was Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 4-7 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Shakopee and also one hour prior to the service at church.

    The Christian Funeral Service will be Thursday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church, 12700 Marystown Rd., Shakopee. Pallbearers for Richard will be Christopher Ellingboe, Dylan Ellingboe, Gregg Frey, Joleen Brandt, Tom Renneke and Rob Geis. The Rev. Mark Schwertfeger will officiate. Richard will be laid to rest at Spirit Hill Cemetery in Jordan.

    In September of 1960, in Hennepin County district court, he pleaded guilty to 2nd degree forgery and was sentenced to ten years probation.

    He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Emilie; daughter, Brenda (of Inver Grove Heights); sons, Craig (of West St. Paul) and Scott (of Newport); sister, Marguerite Jorgenson; and sisters-in-law, Joanne and Eileen Ellingboe and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Olaf and Helen and brothers Clarence and Richard.

    The funeral for Marguerite "Marge" Jorgenson, of Starbuck, Minnesota will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, with Reverend Paul Johnson officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the Starbuck Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at Fron Lutheran Cemetery, Starbuck.

    Marguerite Ann Jorgenson was born on February 3, 1936, in Glenwood, Minnesota to Olaf Even and Helen Violet (Thoren) Ellingboe. Marge was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She grew up in the Glenwood area until age nine; when she moved to Rolling Forks Township, Minnesota, where she lived and was raised by her Uncle and Aunt, Russel and Margaret Davidson. Marge attended school in Glenwood, graduating with the Glenwood High School, Class of 1954. After her graduation, she met and was married to LuVerne O. Jorgenson on June 30, 1956 at Chippewa Lutheran Church in Rolling Forks Township. Following their marriage, they made their home in Starbuck, Minnesota. To this union, four children were born: LuAnn, Carol, Mary and Paul. Marge worked at the Nodland's Cafe in Starbuck and later at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck as a cook. She worked at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home for 27 years before taking an early retirement to care for LuVerne. LuVerne preceded her in death on February 22, 2001. After his death, she continued to live at their home in Starbuck until her death on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 21 days.

    Marge enjoyed baking, embroidery, reading romance novels and doing word search puzzles. She and LuVerne enjoyed their trips to the casino and camping. In later years, Marge looked forward to her bi-annual casino trips with Carol and her annual trips with LuAnn to Wal-Mart to "stock up for winter." She was content to be home and looked forward to spending time with her family.

    Marge is survived by her children: LuAnn (Daniel) Moen of Glenwood, Carol (Roger) Moen of Glenwood, Mary (Wayne) Snow of Laurens, Iowa and Paul (Laurie) Jorgenson of Isanti, Minnesota; grandchildren: Jeremy (Shelly) Moen, Jason (Jolene) Moen, Jamie (Chris) Boelke, Amber (Travis) Zemke, Tracy (Logan) Dove, Amanda Moen-Lee, Kelly (Matt) Tate, Kayla (Toby) Graff, Jason (Sarah) Kluenenberg and Josh Olsen; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Vernon and Esther Jergerson of Starbuck, Earl Ihnen of Glenwood, Emily Ellingboe of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Eileen Ellingboe of Shakopee, Minnesota and JoAnne Ellingboe of Robinsdale, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. Marge is preceded in death by her husband, LuVerne; granddaughter, Jodie L. Moen; brothers: Charles, Richard and Clarence Ellingboe.
