In the 1920 census, on January 14, 1920, he is John A. Thompson, living at 3740 30th Ave. (This is the house that Minnie’s parents lived in in the 1910 census.) (ED #219, image 35 of 40, Ward 12).

In the 1930 census, he is Johan A. The family is still living at 3740 30th Avenue in south Minneapolis in a house worth $4500 that they own. The household does not have a radio. Johan is a machinist helper at the steam railroad shops.

In the 1940 census, he is Johan. He and Gyda and their daughters live at 3740 30th Avenue in south Minneapolis. He is a painter.

He lived in Minneapolis at the time of his brother Jon’s death.

Flom Helen M. (Thompson), 88, of Kenyon, died Monday, Nov. 18 at Martin Luther Manor in Bloomington. She was born July 13, 1914 in Mpls to Johan & Minnie (Benson) Thompson. On Aug. 26, 1950, she married Kenneth O. Flom of Kenyon. She entered Martin Luther Manor in 1991. Survived by daughters, Muriel (Tom) Hogan of Edina and Karen (Ron) Lee of Plymouth; and grandchildren, Alicia and Brice Hogan, Brianne and Kara Lee. Her parents, husband, infant daughter and sister, Evelyn Peterson preceded her in death. Service Saturday, 11 AM at Holden Lutheran Church, rural Kenyon.

Helen married Kenneth Orlando FLOM on 26 Aug 1950 in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Kenneth (son of Martin FLOM and Ida DALBOTTEN) was born on 31 Jan 1917 in Goodhue County, Minnesota; died on 25 Nov 1983 in Olmsted County, Minnesota; was buried in Holden Lutheran Cemetery, Kenyon, Goodhue County, Minnesota.
