Because she is listed in her brother Bertram’s obit as surviving him (”Mrs. Nate Olson”), she is probably not the Theresa Olsen who died in Hennepin County on 2 January 1939 (1939-MN-017999).

In the 1940 census, there is a Theresa Olson, age 53, who is an inmate at the Anoka State Hospital (Insane Asylum). Five years earlier, she had lived in St. Paul.

In the 1930 census, he is William E Pulford, a railroad inspector, living with his family at 5533 Wentworth Avenue. The household consists of William, 38, Mary H, 34, Mary E, 8, and Margaret B Hoff, 23, sister-in-law.

The 1934 Minneapolis city directory has an entry for Wm Pulford living at 1800 Park Avenue, Apartment 5. No occupation shown.

Adopted the name William Lewis for his second family.

The 1956 St. Cloud city directory has Wm Lewis, wife Colette, living at 624 12th Avenue N. He is an office worker for Minneapolis Moline.

The information on his death certificate calls him “Pulford aka Lewis, William E. aka P.” and his parents’ names are shown as unknown. He was a bartender and his usual residence was 1422 W. Lake Street in Minneapolis. He was a widower and had been married to Colette. He was a veteran. The informant for the information on his death certificate was mortuary records.

He registered for the draft in Minneapolis on June 5, 1917. He was 25 and is shown as born on 11 April 1892. He was a single man and gave his mother as someone dependent upon him. He was a painter and lived at 1017 5th Street S in Minneapolis. He was of medium height and build with blue eyes and dark hair.

In the 1920 census, he was a lodger at an apartment house or boarding house at 328 South 10th Street in Minneapolis, the same address as his uncle, Bernard R Christy (#14595). Fred was an asbestos worker.

In the 1940 census, he was Fred Pulford, 45, “nephew”, living with his aunt Anna Warren in Minneapolis. He was single and was usually employed as a painter (or pointer) of brick and stone for a brick and stone construction company although he was out of work at the time of the census.

The 1893 date is the date in the SSDI; his draft registration says 1892 and his MHS death record says 1895. The Fort Snelling cemetery records show 1895. The FS Minnesota Births and Christenings says 11 Apr 1893.

He registered for the draft on June 5, 1917, in Minneapolis as the 22 year-old Bertram Pulford. He was married with a child but he still gave his residence as his parents’ home, 1017 South 5th Street. He was tall and slender with blue eyes and brown hair. His occupation was “shufer” with the Hennepin something shop at 627 Hennepin.

In the 1920 census, he is single and living in Minneapolis. He is a chauffeur.

A Bertram Pulford, residing in King County, Washington, married Irene S Sigurdson of King County in Seattle on 27 November 1929.

In the 1930 census, an unmarried 30 year-old Bert Pulford was a roomer with a family in Minneapolis. He was brick layer. He was shown as born in New York, his father in Minnesota, and his mother in Minnesota.

He registered for the World War II draft in 1942 while living in Menomonie in Dunn County, Wisconsin.

Bert Pulford Dies of Heart Attack Bert Pulford, 52, 351 Fifth street north, died at noon today at Riverview hospital where he was taken Tuesday evening after suffering a heart attack that morning. He came to Wisconsin Rapids about four years ago and had been employed until recently as steward at the Elks club. He was born January 5, 1895, at Minneapolis, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Pulford, and married Nina Schuman at Stillwater, Minn., December 8, 1940. Surviving besides his wife are a
son by a former marriage, Donald Pulford, Seattle; three brothers, Fred and William, Minneapolis, and George, Los Angeles, and four sisters, Mrs. William Harris, Mrs. Arthur Johnson and Mrs. Nate Olson, all of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Lyle Hurlburt, Hollywood, Cal. Funeral arrangements, which had not been completed this afternoon, are in charge of Baker's.

Last Rites for Bert Pulford on Saturday Funeral services for Bert Pulford, 52, who died here Wednesday noon, will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Moravian church with the Rev. H. T. Kant officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. A veteran of World war I, he was a member of the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Loyal Order of Moose. The body will be at the Baker chapel until 11 o'clock Saturday morning, and will be at the Moravian church from 12 o'clock until time of services.
