    Apparently living with, and helping out on the farm of, his aunt Betsey and her husband Ole Forstrom in Eureka Township at the time of the 1880 census (June 5th).

    Farming in Madison Township, Lac Qui Parle County, Minnesota, at the time of the 1900 census (June 1st). The family consisted of Thomas, 41 (born Nov 1858 in Norway), Randi, 33 (born Aug 1866 in Norway), Anna R., 8 (born Jan 1892 in Minnesota), Minnie B., 5 (born Nov 1894 in Minnesota), Elmer O., 4 (born Aug 1896 in Minnesota), Ingmar, 2 (born Feb 1898 in Minnesota), and Anton O., 2 months (born Mar 1900 in Minnesota). Randi had borne 8 children, 5 still living. She and Tom had been married for 12 years. She had come to this country in 1887, he in 1877. They owned the farm and it was mortgaged.

    In the 1905 state census, the family was in Eagle Valley Twp where they had been for 3 years and 7 months. The family consisted of Thomas A Tompson, 45, Randi, 38, Anna, 12, Minnie, 10, Elmer, 8, Ingmar, 6, Anton, 5, Walter, 3, and Ruth 1.

    They (”T.A.” and “Arandi”) were still in Eagle Valley Twp in the 1920 census. Anton, Walter, Ruth, and Elmer were all still at home.

    Tom Thompson and Randi were living in Eureka Twp, Dakota County, at the time of the 1930 census. See p. 9 of 14.

    In the 1940 census, Thomas A and Randie Thompson were living in a rented residence in Castle Rock Twp, Dakota County, Minnesota. In 1935, they had lived in a different location in rural Dakota County. Thomas and Randie had been educated through the 4th grade.

    The “Solor’s Lutheran Cemetery” was established in 1881 in Greenvale Twp, Dakota County. It was a 1 acre plot of land in Section 9, the southwest quarter of the northwest quarter. The cemetery was later abandoned and moved to Webster Twp, Rice County, about 6 miles west, to the location of the Solor Lutheran Church of Webster. It is not clear whether or not anyone is still buried at the Greenvale Twp location.

    It is probably this Minnie who Rose was referring to when she said “Minnie worked for Grandma {Julia} for nine years.”

    In the 1930 census (April 28th), Elmer and his brother Anton were farming on adjacent farms In Eagle Valley Township, Todd County, MN. The family consisted of Elmer, 32, his wife Emma, 24, and their children Evelyn, 5, and Lloyd, 11 months. Elmer and Emma were married when they were 27 and 18, respectively. Elmer was born in Minnesota and his parents in Norway. Emma was born in Minnesota and her parents in Bohemia. Elmer was renting his farm which was characterized as a dairy farm. He did not have a radio.

    In the 1940 census, the family lived on a farm in Eagle Valley Twp, the same house that they had all lived in in 1935.

    Elmer and Emma appear to have had a grandson born in September of 1962.

    Adeline Eleanor Tallman was born on September 11, 1920, in Webster, Minnesota, to George and Minnie (Thompson) Snesrud. She was raised in Webster, baptized and confirmed at Solar Lutheran  Church, and graduated from Faribault High School in 1937. She married John W. “Jack” Tallman Jr. on June 21, 1938, at Solar Lutheran Church. After marriage they lived in Webster and Dodge Center where Jack operated turkey farms and Adeline was a homemaker and raised four children. They moved to Faribault in 1952 when Jack began his management career as General Manager of Faribault Turkeys, Inc.  Adeline supported him in his career which took him to Rochester, Alabama and Utah. Prior to retirement Jack was the President of Norbest Turkeys. Inc., in Salt Lake City.  Adeline enjoyed the opportunity to travel with Jack internationally with his job and visit children living overseas. Following retirement, they split time between Depoe Bay, Oregon and Green Valley, Arizona. Jack passed away in 1999, and Adeline moved to Northfield in May 2006.
     
    In addition to raising her four children, Adeline was active in the Lutheran churches in Faribault, Salt Lake, Arizona and Oregon, volunteering, attending classes and singing in the choir. Adeline devoted her life to caring for her husband and children and enjoyed spending her time reading, going for walks, traveling, as well as baking pies and cookies for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
     
    Survivors include her children and their spouses: Beverly Lubbers of Northfield, Wesley and Joyce Tallman of Panama, Eileen and Jon Summers of Cambodia, Scott and Petra Tallman of Arkansas; 7 grandchildren: Laurel (Tim) Ley, Lisa (Tito) Warren, Elizabeth Summers (Christian Buhr), Sarah Summers (Eric Fudeman), Christopher (Kara Lee) Tallman, Joline (Rodrick) Thorton, Jessica Tallman; 10 great-grandchildren: Heather, Olivia, Austin, Colton, Blake, Andrew, Myles, Kendra, Madden, Dylan; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brother Russell.
     
    Adeline passed away surrounded by her family on Friday morning, February 5, 2010, at Millstream Commons in Northfield, at the age of 89.
     
    Services will be 1:30PM Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield with Rev. Janet White officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00PM.
     
    Memorials are preferred to Northfield Hospice or Rice County Humane Society.
     
    Arrangements are with the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home.

    Duane Elmer was born on July 25, 1932, to Elmer and Emma (Volenec) Thompson on the family farm near Browerville. He was baptized on December 1, 1932 and confirmed on October 16, 1949, at Bethel Church near Clarissa. Duane attended District #123 Country School through the eighth grade. Following his education, he started working for Swift & Co. in South St. Paul. Duane was united in marriage to Eleanor Hedlund on January 31, 1953, at Esther Lutheran Church in Eastern Township. Shortly after their wedding, Duane was stationed in Japan while he served in the United States Army from March 13, 1953 until his honorable discharge in February of 1955. He returned home and went back to work at Swift & Co, until 1967. Duane then began working for the Bloomington School System as a custodian and bus driver before eventually becoming the Chief Engineer. Duane retired in 1994. He was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Bloomington and former member of Esther Lutheran Church. Duane also was part of the camping group called the Rochester Roamers. He enjoyed working, traveling and camping. Duane especially loved taking trips with his family.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; an infant son; sister, Evelyn Sada; and two brothers, Loyd Thompson and Donald Thompson.

    Duane is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eleanor; two sons, Kevin (Mary) Thompson of River Bank, California and Keith (Lois) Thompson of Bloomington; daughter, Karla (Donny) Kalpin of Leaf Valley; two brothers, Gary (Kathy) Thompson of Eagle Bend and LeRoy Thompson of Rogers; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND.

    Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 5:00 till 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND.
