    In the 1880 census he is unmarried and living with his brother Rochus and family in Otter Tail County in Oscar, Township 133. Both men were railroad workers. In the formation of the township of Carlisle (township 133, range 44) in Otter Tail County, “R. Fautch” and “Mathew Fautsch” were listed as “qualified electors” in the petition of organization dated 14 March 1881.

    He is a saloon keeper in Delano in the 1895 state census.

    In the 1900 census he is an assistant road master for the railroad. He and his family live in Milaca, a few houses away from Martin Orfald (#2592) and family.

    He registered for the draft in Detroit, Michigan, as George John Fautch on 12 September 1918. He was unmarried and was a self-employed painting contractor.

    In the 1920 census, he is George J Fautch, an unmarried auto company worker living in Highland Park, Michigan.

    He was single and his usual residence was 1616 2nd Street NE, the same residence as the informant for his death certificate, Marie C Fautsch. George had been a foreman at the Ford auto plant but he hadn’t worked for 12 years. He died of stomach cancer.

    She is a telephone operator in the 1910 and 1920 censuses. Still living at home with her mother in the 1930 census. She was a telephone operator at a hotel.

    According to her death certificate, she had been in Minneapolis for 45 years, was single, and worked in the commercial department at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. She died of pneumonia brought on by lung cancer. The informant for her death certificate was her brother, Edward W Fautsch of 1616 2nd Street NE.

    He is listed in the on-line database of professional baseball players compiled by the Baseball Almanac. He is listed as Joe Fautsch, born Joseph Roamon Fautsch in Minnesota in 1887. He was 5’ 10” tall and weighed 162 lbs. His first and last game in the big leagues was 24 April 1916, when he appeared as a pinch hitter for the Chicago White Sox. He did not get a hit. Batted right, threw right.

    He registered for the draft on June 5, 1917, in St. Louis County. He was an engineer’s helper working for the village of Hibbing. He was single. He was described as tall and of medium build with dark blue eyes and light brown hair.

    In the 1930 census, he is probably the 35 year-old Joseph Fautch, a meter reader for “water & light” in Hibbing.

    In the 1940 census, he lived in Hibbing and was a meter reader for the village.

    At the time of his sister Francis’s death in 1950 he lived at 1616 2nd Street NE.

    In the 1956 Minneapolis city directory, he lives at 1616 NE 2nd. He is a packer for Janny Semple Hill.
