Not living with his parents in the 1880 census. He was a 17 year-old farmhand on a farm in Eureka Twp.

According to Rose, it was this Ole Nelson (or possibly, his father) who encouraged Ove and family to come to the New Market area because you could see three church spires from there.

In the 1910 census (May 10th), he and his family live on a farm in New Market, Scott County, next door to the newly married Ole and Rose Ellingboe. He was 46 and had been married for 6 years to Selma, 37. It was the first marriage for both and Selma had had 2 children: Sofia, 4, and Oscar, 3. On the other side of them lived 50 year-old Nels Nelson, a widower, with his son Henry, 15.

In the 1930 census, he lives in New Market with his son Oscar. They are listed on the census form just after the Ole Ellingboe family. Ole is shown as a widower.

Died of valvular heart disease, chronic nephritis, and arteriosclerosis. Info on his death certificate was provided by Walter Hanson of Lakeville.

Ole married Selma NESS on 18 May 1904 in Scott County, Minnesota. Selma (daughter of Ole Olsson NÆS and Barbro Helgesdatter) was born in Aurdal i Valdres, Oppland, Norway; died on 18 Dec 1920 in New Market Twp, Scott County, Minnesota; was buried in East Christiania Lutheran Cemetery, Eureka Twp, Dakota County, Minnesota. Supposedly, Sophie also had a stillborn baby.

The informant for her death certificate was her husband, Henry E Nelson. She died of “sudden coronary thrombosis.” She had no Social Security number. Her father was Ole O Nelson and her mother was Selma somebody (the informant did not know).

He was 22 and single, living with his widower father, at the time of the 1930 census.

According to his death certificate, Oscar never married. He was a laborer for a concrete products company. He died from prostate cancer. The informant for his death certificate was an employee with the VA. His usual residence was 848 East Rose in St. Paul.

Oscar was a PFC in the U.S. Army in World War II. His service start date was 28 January 1942.

He was the informant for the death certificate of his cousin, Henry Nelson, who died in 1971.

Entered eternal rest on Sept 8, 2023. He was long time employee of Waterous Co in South St. Paul. John was extremely proud of his service as a USMC sergeant stationed at a Marine air base during the Korean War. He loved traveling across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. He cherished his family and was a stellar role model to all who knew him. He was a 58-year member of St. Pascal Baylon Parish, a life member of Arcade-Phalen American Legion Post 0577, Saint Paul, MN and of VFW Post 4127, Homestead, FL.

John was preceded in death by an infant son, a granddaughter, his parents, 6 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by loving wife Shirley,son Gregory (Kristine Nogosek) Hanson, daughter Jeanne (Donald) Carlson, 9 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren, sisters Caroline (Raymond) Linder, Vivian Christy, Juleen Jeske, brother Vernon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Christian Burial Service on Saturday, September 16, 2023, 11:00 AM at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077. Visitation starting at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Luncheon will follow the Service. Private family burial service with military honors at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN.z

Howard "Howie" E. Hanson, age 80, of Luck, WI, formerly of St. Paul Park, MN, passed away April 12, 2017 in Amery, WI.

Howie was born in New Market, MN on November 18, 1936. He married the love of his life, Carol Thompson on March 3, 1956 and they were married 60+ years until her death on July 23, 2016.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Susan) Hanson of Brooklyn Park, MN, Pamela (David) Edwards of Augusta, WI, Karen (Joseph) Roberts of Osecola, WI, John Hanson of Cottage Grove, MN, Lisa (Thomas) Schaeffer of Apple Valley, MN, James Hanson of Apple Valley, MN and Ben Hanson of Eagan, MN; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter; siblings, John (Shirley) Hanson, Caroline (Ray) Linder, Vivian Christy, Juleen (Marlyn) Jeske, Vernon Hanson, Henry Hanson, Deanna Clevenger; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by wife, Carol; siblings, Selmer Hanson, Ernest Hanson, Marion Amacker, Esther Burnell, and David Hanson.

Howie worked as a machinist at American Hoist & Derrick and Waterous Company for a combined 30 years. He was always willing to help his family and friends wherever he could. He loved his family very much and he also loved and lived his life according to the word of his God Jehovah.

Memorial services will be held at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 228 1st Avenue East, Milltown, WI, on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
