In the 1885 state census, he is John Thompson, living in Holden. The household consists of John, 50, Emma, 44, Julia, 22, Knute, 20, Anna, 16, Sissel, 14, Maria, 12, Mary L., 10, Gilbert, 8, Carrie J., 4, Thomas, 1, and Knute, 88, father.

In the 1895 state census he is John K. Tassa, living with his family in Holden, Goodhue County. The household is John K., 60, Ingebor, 55, daughter Gunild, 32, Knut, 30, daughter Secili, 24, Mary, 22, Marit, 20, Gilbert, 18, daughter Josse, 14, and Albert, 9. All the children were born in Minnesota.

He is listed in “The Valdris Book”, a history of the Valdris Samband published in 1920 (available on Google Books), as John K Tasa of Dennison but his entry specifically says he was not a member of the Samband. His entry says that he came to the U.S. in 1851.

From the Rice County Journal, May 4, 1910:

Knut Tasa, aged fifty-five years died at his home in Holden on Thursday, April 21, of consumption. He was born October 13, 1864. He was a single man. Mr. Tasa leaves his parents, two brothers and three sisters to mourn his loss. The funeral was held at Vangs church on Monday, April 25, Rev. A. Hauge, officiating.

The 14 November 1896 edition of the Northfield News, as indexed in the Minnesota Newspaper Headline Index, notes for “Mrs. Thomas Ellingboe” that “sister of Mrs. Erick Svien death announced.”

Her sister Marit Lovise Ellingboe (#6803) seems to have died on the same day as Anne Sophie Svien.

Her death and burial date are confusing in the church record. Her funeral seems to have been on the same date as her sister Marit (#6803), b. 10-24-74, d. 11-8-1896. However, the burial date for both is clearly October 11th. The person who entered the burial dates seems to have gotten mixed up because all of the dates are (otherwise) consecutive and the funeral before the two sisters is October 31st.

From the Faribault Daily News, Sept. 7, 1967:

Gilbert Tasa, 90, of Dennison passed away at Northfield City Hospital Tuesday, Sept. 5. He had been a resident of the Dilley Convalescent unit for some time. Mr. Tasa was an 1896 graduate of Luther College and farmed most of his life. He was never married. Funeral services will be held from the Vang Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, with the Rev. John Fahning officiating. Interment will be at the Vang Cemetery. Survivors include on brother, Albert, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Albert Antoni Tasa, 85, of Dennison, were held Sept. 17 at the Vang Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeno Weisz officiating. Interment took place at the Vang Cemetery. Christine Gunhus, accompanied by Mrs. Cyrus Midge, sang "Children Of The Heavenly Father." Pallbearers were Eric Odegaard, Lester Odegaard, Obert Musgjerd, George Langemo, Myron Heggedahl, and Robert Adamson. Albert Tasa was born on Feb. 6, 1886, to John and Ingeborg Bakken Tasa on their homestead in Holden Township. He was baptized on March 14, 1886, by the late Rev. J. N. Kildahl, and confirmed on Nov. 11, 1900, by the late Rev. A. Hauge. He was a life-long member of the Vang congregation, and lived on the homestead for most of his life. His parents, eight sisters, and three brothers preceded him in death. He is survived by 14 nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives. He passed away on Sept. 13 at the Dilly Convalescent Home in Northfield, where he had been a resident since 1964.

Helen L. (Heggedahl) Wolkenhauer, age 89, of Kenyon, went home to be with her beloved husband, Art Wolkenhauer on Wednesday, October 15, 2008.
?Memorial services will be held at Kenyon United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 4 p.m. with the Reverend Dana Houck officiating. Interment will be in Kenyon Cemetery.
?Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
?Helen Lucille Heggedahl, the daughter of Louis and Amanda (Ellingboe) Heggedahl was born June 9, 1919 in Hamblin, MT. She graduated from Kenyon High School with the Class of 1937. She married Art Wolkenhauer on March 5, 1938. Together they farmed in the Kenyon area until their retirement. Art preceded her in death on March 24, 1992. Helen volunteered at the Thrift Shop in Kenyon and was a member of the Ladies Aid of Kenyon United Methodist Church.?
She is survived by a son, Gary (and Dott) Wolkenhauer of Kenyon; six grandchildren, Sandy (and Scott) Hanson of Cannon Falls, Jim Wolkenhauer of West Concord, Vickie Amundson on the home farm in rural Kenyon, Robert (and Lisa) Wolkenhauer of Faribault, Carolee (and Lynn) Miller of Kenyon and Jean (and Brian) Ramthun of Grasston; great grandchildren, James (and Cyndi) Wolkenhauer, David and Bethany Wolkenhauer, Quentin and Kayla Amundson, Jeremy, Megan and Robert Wolkenhauer, Brianna and Taylor Miller, Dean Wolkenhauer, David, Daniel, Kyle and Dylan Ramthun; great, great grandchildren, Bailey, Tegan and Carter Mattson-Wolkenhauer and Brayton Meyer; three brothers, Myron Heggedahl of Kenyon, Donald (and Alice) Heggedahl of Hayfield and Alan (and Virginia) Heggedahl of Floodwood; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art; and a brother, Arthur.
