She is Selina E in the 1910 census. In that census, she is shown as having had 4 children, 3 still living.

In the 1940 census, she is the widow “Celina” Johnson living with her daughter Ila in Huntington Park. “Celina” is a saleslady in a retail dry goods establishment.

She lived at 1064 West 42nd Street in Los Angeles in September of 1948 when she applied for a headstone for her son’s grave.

The Johnson Family Tree on Ancestry.com lists another child of Ole and Selina: Elwin Johnson, b. 9 Jun 1914 and d. 2 Jan 2002 in Ord, Nebraska. Another family tree of the same name and with the same owner, does not list Elwin as a child of Ole and Selina. No such child is listed in the 1920 or 1930 censuses.

The Johnson Family Tree on Ancestry.com has Ila dying 23 Dec 1978, no location given. This tree lists Ila twice, with the same death date, but with birth dates as 15 July 1911 and about 1913. Another version of the Johnson Family Tree (same owner) uses only the 15 Jul 1911 date of birth for Ila.

The SSDI records this death as Ila Smith, last residence Whittier, California. Her Social Security number had been issued in California and she was born 15 Jul 1911. The California Death Index records this death as Ila J Smith, Los Angeles County, no mother’s maiden name shown.

In the 1940 census, she is Ila Searing, a 28 year-old widow living with her widowed mother “Celina” in Huntington Park. “Celina” is a saleslady in a retail dry goods establishment and Ila is a “new worker.”

In the 1940 census, Arvon, 20, his wife Vivian, 18, their daughter Kathleen, 1, and Vivian’s widowed mother, Gladys DeMars, 48, live in Forest Twp, Sierra County, California. Arvon is a gold miner.

The Johnson Family Tree on Ancestry.com says the Arvon Earl Johnson, b. 11 Sep 1919, died 21 Mar 1945, no location given. A Private Arvon E Johnson is listed as on the U.S. Roster of World War II dead.

Private Arvon E Johnson is listed on the muster roll for the U.S.S. Edgecombe dated 31 Dec 1944 for its sailing from San Francisco. (The destination was Finschhaven in New Guinea.) That Arvon E Johnson, born in Utah and a resident of Los Angeles, had enlisted in the U.S. Army in Los Angeles on 18 Jul 1944. He was married and his civil occupation was machinist. He served in the 41st Division, 162nd Infantry, Company E.

Jerry Kendall Jacobson, age 75, passed away December 4, 2006 from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident. He was born October 21, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Kendall and Madge Devoe Tholman Jacobson. On March 12, 1955 he married Shirleen Taylor and together they had six children. They later divorced. He married Margarett Webster on Aug 15, 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jerry was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served in the U.S. Navy. He served as a crew chief, flying many missions on submarine patrol in the South Pacific. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing. He spent a lot of time with his children and grandchildren. Jerry was self employed as a general contractor building not only private homes but also commercial buildings. He took great pride in his work and had many satisfied customers, retiring in 1994. Survivors: wife, Margaret, Sandy; children, Debbie Weekes, Joe Jacobson (Yvonne), Jerry Jacobson, Diane Jacobson, Kathy Johnson; 17 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Beverly Peery (Dick); stepchildren, Scott Allen (Tonya), Sharon Anderberg (Mark), James Kreek (Stephanie); seven stepgrandchildren; one step great grandson; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by daughter, Patti Jacobson; stepson, Shawn; and parents.
