    Evelyn entered this life in Bruce, Wis. on May 16, 1916. Evelyn graduated from Austin High School in 1934. She married Loren E. Christopherson in 1939. He passed away in 1976. To this union three daughters were born. She worked in her husband's two grocery stores during the early years of her marriage and later as bartender/waitress at Lefty's Bar earning her gold union card for 44 years of membership. She was a longtime member of the VFW, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion auxiliaries.

    "Evie" was loved and respected by her family and the many people she served over the years. Her two rules, "always be a lady" and "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything" are her legacy. She left us quietly and quickly, never wanting to be a bother. Her way. We miss her.

    Evelyn is survived by her daughters: Lora Lee Bauer, Austin, Minn., Linda (Steve) Hoag, Austin, Minn., Lisa Ramirez, Farmington, Minn.; Seven grandchildren: Tara Anderson, Wade (Jody) Bauer, Lia, (Jason) Culbert, Christyn, (Brandon) McFarland, Chelsea Hoag (Brandon Smith), Rose and Riki Ramirez and nine great-grandchildren; brother: Alvin (Geraldine) Redwing, Austin, Minn.; sisters-in-law: Delores Redwing, Portland Ore., Vernyce Austin and Delphy Voorhees, Austin, Minn.; many nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Bernice Vedder, Myrtle Carlson, Doris Ness, brother Chester Redwing.

    Beulah Beatrice Ulvedal was born on April 23, 1913 in Grand Forks at the St. Anne's Hospital. She was the eldest daughter of Cora (Redwing) Ulvedal and A. J. Ulvedal. She began her education in Emerado, ND and graduated with a teaching certificate from Mayville Teaching College in 1930. She was a rural schoolteacher at an early age and taught students of all ages, some even older than she was.

    She married LeRoy E. Nelson in 1936. They farmed near Inkster, N.D. and Thompson, N.D. They moved to Grand Forks in 1952 to continue raising their family.

    Both Beulah and LeRoy were active in the Thompson PTA and were instrumental in starting the school lunch program. After the move, they were active in the Belmont PTA and its fundraising activities. Beulah played a part in the writing of the history of Belmont School. She was also active in the United Lutheran Ladies' Aid and was president of the organization in the late 1950's. She combined homemaking and career as her children got older. She worked at Willey's Jewelry, Norby's and later served as the store manager of the Fanny Farmer Candy shop until her retirement.

    Beulah was known as a fantastic cook, which also included baking breads, doughnuts, and Swedish rice pudding. Many holidays, she decorated homemade Yule Kaka and had her children deliver it to friends and family. Education and hard work, ""If you want to teach kids to work, you must work beside them' were priorities for Beulah. Mother of her seven and many neighborhood kids, Beulah had an uncanny ability to understand children and their needs. She had a quiet personality but was firm in her conviction; she volunteered as needed and put in long hours in her many roles.

    LeRoy E. Nelson died on December 10, 1986. She is survived by her sister, Vivian (Don) Bye, Bemidji, MN and Mesa, AZ. Children: Gayle (Jerome) Birkeland, Grand Forks, ND, Maureen (Ordean ) Jacobson, Fargo, ND, Sandra ""Jo' (James) Dunn, Mentor, MN, Donald P.(Cathy) Nelson, North Oaks, MN. Thomas L. (Joyanne) Nelson, Eugene, OR, Kathleen ""Tootsie' (John ""Gino') Gasparini, Grand Forks, ND and Gary J. M. Nelson, Fort Collins, CO. She has nineteen grandchildren who will serve as pallbearers/honorary pallbearers, twenty-four great-grand children, and two great-great grand children. brother-in-law, Gordon Caldis, Grand Forks, sisters-in-law, Lillian Ulvedal, Portland, OR, and Betty Ulvedal, Fairplay, CO and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, sisters, Mildred Ulvedal, Evelyn Erickson, LeNore Caldis, and brothers, A.L. ""Bud' Ulvedal and Lincoln Ulvedal. The family is especially grateful for the care that Beulah received while at the Villa St. Vincent which was her home for twelve years. Funeral Services will be at the United Lutheran Church, on Monday, December 12, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery of Grand Forks.

    Towne, Lois Kathleen Age 95, of Bloomington, MN, passed away peacefully on July 11th, 2016. Born in Preston, MN, she grew up in South Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Roland Edward Towne, her parents and 3 siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Payne and Cynthia Towne, her grandson Gabriel Towne, her great-granddaughter ElleAnna Towne, her sister Dee Oughtred and a myriad of nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews.

    Tilford E. Hellie Jr, age 71 of St. Croix Falls, WI passed away in his sleep at his home on Sunday, January 23, 2011. Tilford was born May 18, 1939 to Tilford and Clara Hellie of Morris, MN; where he was raised. After graduating from Morris High School in 1957 he attended college and earned his Bachelors degree in Education. After college, Tilford was an active member of the Army National Guard for several years. In 1967 Tilford married Gretchen Dokken of Benson, MN. Benson became their home and they had two sons, Christopher and Erik.

    Tilford eventually lived and worked in Minneapolis for many years before moving to St Croix Falls, WI; where he and Gretchen enjoyed retirement. There’s nothing Tilford enjoyed more than visiting with friends and being active in different community groups. He also loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren and being a part of their lives. He was a proud father and grandfather.

    Tilford was preceded in death by his parents, Tilford and Clara Hellie, his younger brother Keith, and his granddaughter Madeline. Survivors include Gretchen Dokken-Hellie, sons Christopher (Michelle) Hellie and Erik (Jennifer) Hellie, and grandchildren, Emily, Bennett, Marty and Stuart.

    Lorna Fair, 54, of Denver, CO, formerly of Grand Forks, ND, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Denver Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.

    Lorna was born September 6, 1957 in Grand Forks, ND to LeNore and Gordon Caldis. She was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church. She attended Grand Forks Schools, graduating from Red River High School. Lorna also graduated from Cottey College, Nevada Missouri and from Metropolitan State College of Denver School of Business, magna cum laude, with a Degree in Management and a concentration in Human Resources.

    Lorna was involved with PEO Sisterhood, Reopening of Slavens Elementary, Net/post grad program at Littleton High and was a recipient of Littleton High School's Community Appreciation Award in 2011.

    Lorna's proudest achievements are her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling the world, reading, shopping, cooking, baking, decorating, entertaining and any/all activities that her children were involved in.

    Lorna is survived by her husband Paul; sons Jensen and Cole; her father, Gordon Caldis; siblings Jack and Lynda Caldis, Coke and Gary Oines, Bill and Roxanne Thurman Caldis, Cammy and Jerry Johnson. Nieces and nephews include Rick Caldis, Susan and Hayden Yeagley, Corey, Candace, Cora, Oliver Caldis, Leif and Margaret Feinberg Oines, Hans and Susan Oines, Cleve, Psalm, Klyr and Noelani Oines, Cache and William Caldis, Talia, Ryan, Sienna Sundstrom, Whitney Johnson, Madison and Marley Fair.
