Velgjerd og Mads hadde barna: Sigrid (1707-) gift med Andris Ivarson Lien på Leine?, Embrik (1714-) død før 1741, da Mads holdt skifte, Ingebjørg (1715- 1742), død i barselseng, gift med Thomas Bjørnson Kattevold, grb på Netrøst 40 og Ingeleiv (1716-) hun kom til Søre Ellestad i Vestre Slidre. I skiftet Mads holdt, sies det at hun da var "vanvittig", og Guri (1713-) gift med Gudmund Riste i Vestre Slidre

Frøholm skriver:"Mads bygsla dei 8 skinn eller 1 bismarpund smør prestegods i 1705, men vart i februar 1713 innstemnd av presten Ove Ovesen (Wangensteen), fordi han brukte heile garden, som Ove hevda skulle skylde prestebolet 3 bismarpund smør, medan Mads hadde bygsla 1 pund. På hausttinget 1713 fann retten at matrikkelen synte det same som bygselsetelen, 1 pund smør eller 8 skinn, og at garden ikkje tolde høgare skyld, så Mads vart frikjend. 18.2.1712 fekk han skjøte av Ola Ellingbø på 2.5 skinn odelsgods, som faren hadde pantet bort for 48 rd.

Då Mads heldt skifte hausten 1741, åtte han netto 271 rd og 2 skinn 1/2 mål odelsgods i garden. Han skulle ha livaure på Netrøst, men likte seg ikkje hos versonen Tomas Bjørnson Kattevold og flytte eit halvt år etter at dottera Ingebjørg døde hauset 1742 til den andre versonen, Gudmund Riste, der han døde i september1744. Gudmund stemnde svogeren Tomas Bjørnson fordi han ikkje ville betale den "oppvartning" han hadde ytt verfaren, medan Tomas heldt på livauren til Mads. Dei vart forlikte om at Tomas skulle betale Gudmund 14 rd til kommende vårting.

Lars (1802), w. Anna (1823), and son Christopher (1830) checked out of Vang parish on March 26, 1857, and immigrated together(May 3, 1857) on the vessel Olaf, first to Decorah, IA, for 3 months, then on to Goodhue Co., MN. With them was Lars's niece Gertrude Endresdtr, who was the daughter of Anne Christophersdtr [Løkreim] (1810 - 1861) (the only living sibling who did not immigrate) and husband Endre Olsen Lien/Dalsødegaarden. Lars's family settled in the Vang settlement in Warsaw Twp. , Goodhue Co., in the rolling hills between the settlements Sogn and Dennison (near Hwys. 56 and 246), not far from where Lars's brothers Iver and Gullick were homesteading in Northfield Twp., Rice Co. Iver Christopherson Lockrem's son Christopher married Gertrude Endresdtr. The Lockrem brothers' sister, widow Gertrude Tviet, also immigrated in 1864 and settled in Warsaw Twp. Lars Lockrem's family was active in the development of Vang Lutheran Church.

At that time, “Guller’s” wife was Mary, b. ca 1810, and they had four children living with them: Julia, 20, Ellen, 18, Ole, 16, and Christine, 14. The oldest one had been born in Norway, the middle two were born in Wisconsin, and the youngest one was born in Minnesota.

There were two Christopher Lockrems born at about the same time in Vang. The other one (#25778) was born 3 Nov 1830 (bapt. 16 Dec) to Lars Christopherson Lockrem and Anne Østensdatter. Both Christophers raised families in or near Goodhue County, Minnesota.

This one, a first cousin of the one born in 1830, married one of his 1st cousins.

In the 1870 census, he and “Jane” lived in Warsaw Twp, Goodhue County. The household consisted of Christopher, 39, Jane, 31, Edward, 11, Annie, 9, Andrew, 7, Augustus, 3, Malina, 2, and Lauritz, 6 months.

Lockrem was born in Norway in 1831; immigrated in 1849 and settled in Dane County, Wisconsin, afterward worked at tinner’s trade in Chicago, Cambridge and Janesville; moved to Independence, Iowa, and followed his trade three years. In 1856 he began farming in Rice County, Minnesota, and ten years later moved to Goodhue County; in 1873 he came to this town and bought 160 acres on section 36. He has held various town offices in this and other counties. In 1858 he married Gertrude Lien in Rice County; they have nine children living.

Iver Lockrem was born at Valders, Norway, Feb. 2, 1840, and died at his home in Northfield Thursday morning, March 27, 1919. Death was due to old age. Mr. Lockrem came to America in 1849 and settled in Wisconsin where he lived for some time, later making his home near Decorah, Iowa. In 1855, he moved to Rice county and occupied a farm at Valley Grove where he lived until twelve years ago when he came to Northfield to live. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Minnie Lockrem and Mrs. Ole Telle of Valley Grove, a brother, Lars Lockrem of St. Paul, a sister, Elizabeth Johnson of Spokane, Wash., and five grandchildren. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Nils Kleven, will be held from the home at 9:30 a.m. and at St. Johns church at 10 a.m. Monday.

He emigrated in the spring of 1870, crossing the North Sea on the feeder ship Scotia and then crossed the Atlantic on the Anglia. He arrived in Northfield on 7 May 1870. He stayed in Goodhue County until September and then moved to Dakota County.

I boka "Fever Saga" av Robert Lloyd Lee" om Opdalsslekten står det om Trond Helgesen Opdal: Berit was not only concerned about feeding and clothing the bodies of her children. She was an unusual woman for her day as her father had allowed her to learn to read and write. And now she wanted the same for her sons and daughters. She taught them as much as she could by herself. And then she was able to secure a travelling teacher named Tomas Lajord to come and spend a few weeks at the farm and serve as tutor. He was a bright and pleasant young man, and the children enjoyed having him in the home. It was not all work with him, either, unlike some teachers, for he took time to play with his pupils, too. Sometimes the antics of the younger ones even brought a smile to Berit's face. A special concern at this time was to prepare Trond for confirmation. Pastor Konow was a stern taskmaster, and it was his custom to come up from Vang and visit each farm where there were young people. Then he would examine them one by one, and all were required to know the answers from Pontoppidan's catechism by heart. Tomas drilled Trond with the questions and answers over and over. And the pastor was satisfied with the results when he visited the Opdal farm. "Trond is ready for confirmation."

"Valdres Samband expanded its stevne to two days in 1903, arranging the gjestebø for the evening of Saturday, September 5, and then continuing with the regular open-air reunion the following day. Thomas Lajord was at this time removed from any position of influence in Samband, a shift in leadership due mainly to a developing antagonism between him and the other leaders of the society."

He was the first president of the Valdres Samband. It was his letter in the “Nordvesten” in February of 1899 that called the Valdris people in the Twin Cities to assemble of a spring stevne.

Thomas Lajord is a native of Norway, born February 26, 1842. He was educated for a teacher, and being a Lutheran, was confirmed at Hamarstiff in 1857, and that year attended school to complete his education for his life work as teacher. He began his career in his native land January 10, 1859, and followed teaching there until April 4, 1870, when he immigrated to America and landed at New York. Ten days after his arrival he came to Goodhue County, this State, and from there to Dakota County, where he occupied his time in teaching until 1875, when he came to this county and purchased forty acres of land on section 12, New Richland Township, where he still resides. He held the position of teacher and choir leader in the church here until 1885, when some of the members thinking that he was too outspoken in his manner in regard to his views as to the way Christian people should live, and dissensions creeping into the church, he resigned his stewardship. June 26, 1869, Thomas Lajord and Maren Kattvold were united in marriage, and they have been the parents of four children: Thorstein, born October 27, 1876; Ingeborg, June 6, 1879; Clara, July 8, 1882, and Hannah, March 3, 1887. Funeral services were held for Mrs. Anton Remmen, who passed away at St. Lucas hospital in Faribault following a stroke she suffered at her home on Wednesday afternoon, February 4. A brief service was held at the family home at 1:30 p.m. and at the Vang Lutheran church at 2 p.m. and were conducted by the Rev. Adolph Egge. Interment was made in Vang cemetery. The pallbearers were Gilbert Tasa, John Johnson, N. O. Huseth, Charles Egtvedt, Bennie Kasa and Andrew Hoverstad. Mrs. Waldemar Ross of Stillwater, a niece, sang two solos, one at the home and one at the church. Mrs. Adolph Egge and Mrs. Cyrus Midge sang a duet at the church. Mrs. Remmen was born in Warsaw township, the daughter of Christopher and Berit Hoverstad Lockrem, December 1, 1875, and spent her entire life with the exception of two years when she lived in North Dakota. She attended public and religious schools in this community. She was united in marriage to Anton Remmen September 15, 1917 at Sioux City, Iowa. She was a life long member of the Vang congregation, baptized by Rev. Bockman and in 1890 was confirmed by the Rev. Ofstedahl. Beside her husband she leaves one daughter, Miss Theodora and a nephew, Lawrence Lockrem, to whom she gave a mother's love and care. She is also survived by one brother, Austin Lockrem of Dennison. Three sisters and five brothers preceded her in death. Relatives from away were: E. R. Carr, Boulder, Colo., Mrs. W. H. Austin Lockrem, 73-year-old farmer of Warsaw township, Goodhue county, passed away at his farm home Sunday evening after an illness of several months. Mr. Lockrem was born on the farm where he died. There are two sons: Austin, Jr., of Northfield and Marvin at home; two daughters, Beatrice at the Mineral Springs sanatorium and Gladys at home who survive. In 1900, at the age of 24, she came to this country and on July 3, 1905 was married to Nels J. Estrem, of Dennison, at Red Wing. They lived in Dennison and community ever since. Mr. Estrem, a son Alfred and a daughter, Mrs. Selma Carlson preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Herman (Thea) Vorlander of Dennison; two sons, Thomas of Dennison and Norman of St. Paul; one granddaughter, Bertha Carlson and one grandson, John Estrem of Dennison. Beatrice Lockrem, age 88 of rural Dennison, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, December 1st at the Vang Lutheran Church of rural Dennison with burial at the Vang Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at the Church 1 hour prior to Services.

Beatrice Charlotte Lockrem was born March 18, 1923 on the family farm east of Dennison in Sogn Valley, daughter of Austin and Malvina (Estrem) Lockrem. She was raised on the farm and attended the country school located on Highway 56 near their home. She then began working at the Laura Baker School in Northfield. In the early 1960s she learned how to drive a car and moved to the Twin Cities and began working as a cook in a nursing home until retirement. “Beat”, as she was known to her nieces and nephews, then began caring for elderly people in their homes for a number of years, including Ida Strand Edlo Solum, and her aunt Valborg Husbyn. In 1985 she moved back to the family farm to provide care for her sister Gladys King who had been diagnosed with cancer. Following Gladys’s death in 1988 she remained on the farm with her brother-in-law Alva King and cousin Theodora Remmen.

Beatrice was an independent person and was always a caregiver. She was beloved by her nieces and nephews and enjoyed playing games and having them spend the night. She was an avid reader of Readers Digest, and liked to write letters. She belonged to the Vang Ladies Aid and enjoyed helping with their Lutefisk Dinner. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, had a large vegetable garden every year which included canning her prized tomatoes, and liked to bake.

Beatrice Lockrem is survived by brother Austin (Louise) Lockrem of Northfield and her nieces and nephews; Alice Oleson, Bob, Alan, and David King, Gary, Ronnie, and Marvin Lockrem, Lucy Wefel, Harry and Richard Lockrem, Ann Albert and Lori Lockrem. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Gladys King and brothers Lawrence and Marvin Lockrem.

She was born Sept.13, 1924 in Goodhue County to Austin and Malvina (Estrem) King. She attended country schools. King spent her entire life on the farm where she was born. She worked for Malt-O-Meal, Laura Baker School and Carleton College.

Following her marriage to Alva King on Feb. 23, 1952, she moved to her family farm where she raised four children. Gardening and reading were hobbies of King. She also was a member of Ladies Aide at Vang Lutheran Church in rural Dennison. She is survived by her husband; four children, Mrs. Alice James Oleson, rural Dennison, Robert King, Farmington, Alan King, Dennison, and David King, rural Dennison; five grandchildren; one brother, Austin Lockrem, Northfield; and one sister, Beatrice Lockrem, Dennison. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Marvin.

The funeral service was held Thursday, July 7, 1988 at 2 p.m. at Vang Lutheran Church, the Rev. Curtis Schneider officiating. Interment was at Vang Cemetery. Pallbearers were Virgil King, Joel Stenhaug, Herman Braaten, Lowell Estrem, Austin Brekken and Peder Underdahl.

Austin Lockrem, age 90 of Northfield, passed away with his wife and family by his side on Tuesday morning, July 12, 2016, at the care center of the Northfield Retirement Community.

Austin Carroll Lockrem was born February 3, 1926, on the family farm near Dennison, Minnesota, to Austin and Malvina (Estrem) Lockrem. He was baptized and confirmed at Vang Lutheran Church and attended District #53 county school. On September 30, 1948, Austin married Louise Ruff at Vang Lutheran Church. After marriage they made their home in Northfield and Austin worked for area farmers. In 1952, he began working at Lampert’s Lumber Yard and remained there until retiring in 1992. In retirement he spent many years making and repairing windows and screens.

Austin was a longtime member of Northfield United Methodist Church and a former member of Sons of Norway. He was always willing to help when asked, had the ability to fix almost anything, was a skilled wood worker, and enjoyed fishing, travel and Lutefisk dinners. He was quiet, honest, caring, well liked, and he will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Louise; 4 children, Harry (Linda) of Roseville, Ann Albert of Iowa, Richard (Donna) of Woodbury, Lori (Todd) Smith of Colorado; 4 grandchildren, Jon Albert, Chris Albert, Justin Lockrem, Jordan (Chelsea) Lockrem; 2 great-grandchildren, Catherine and Austin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Gladys King and Beatrice Lockrem, and his brothers Marvin and Lawrence.

Funeral services will be 10:30AM, Friday, July 15, 2016, at Northfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Rachel McIver Morey. Music will be provided by Cathy Rodland and Wendy Smith. Funeral services for Carl Marvin Lockrem, who was killed in an automobile accident east of Dennison on Friday evening, Dec. 21 were held in Vang Lutheran church Monday today at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. B. J. Blikstad, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Pallbearers were Lowell and Kenneth Estrem, Paul Kinvaland, Austin Brekken, Ingram Nesseth and Albert Remme all of the Northfield-Dennison community. Carl Marvin Lockrem was born Jan. 15, 1928 at Dennison the son of Austin and Melvina Estrem Lockrem. He grew to manhood in the community where on March 19, 1949 he was married to Miss Mildred Johnson. For a time they farmed near Dennison moving to Northfield a few years ago. Until recently Mr. Lockrem had been employed at the Purina Company in Minneapolis. Besides his widow Mr. Lockrem is survived by five children Daniel, seven, Gary, five; Ronald, four, Douglas, two and one half years and Lucille, one year of age. He is also survived by his sisters, Miss Beatrice Lockrem of Northfield and Mrs. Alva King of Dennison and a brother Austin Lockrem of Northfield.

Lockrem had left his wife and children at the home of a relative in Warsaw township and was driving to Dennison to have his car fixed. His car skidded on an icy patch and plunged into a ditch. The accident occurred on Goodhue County Road 9, a mile and a half east of Dennison. Lockrem had recently been laid off from his mill job in Minneapolis. He died od a skull fracture.

She later met Donald E. Engel, and they married on May 28, 1948, in Albany. Together they had three children and Lula worked at home. From 1971 to 1998, they lived in Alsea and since then in Crabtree.

She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Albany. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, camping trips and spending time with her family.

The funeral will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Burnsville, Minn., on July 22 at 4 p.m.

"Lutheran Vespers is still reaping the fruits that Connie planted during his time as speaker," said Susan V. Greeley, director and producer of Lutheran Vespers, ELCA Department for Communication.  "It is very common for staff to hear comments such as, 'I've been listening ever since Connie Thompson was on the air,'" she said.  Lutheran Vespers has been on the air since 1947.   "To this day we receive wills and bequests from people who were touched by Connie's ministry, both over the radio and in person.  His is a legacy that continues to thrive," Greeley said.   "Connie Thompson took a growing ministry and expanded it even further.   Even though no one on the current staff of Lutheran Vespers had the opportunity to work with Connie, we feel as though we know him through our mutual love for listeners and this broadcast.  We are grateful for the wonderful legacy Connie left us and thankful to God for his ministry," she said.

Thompson was born on a farm near Valders, Wis., April 2, 1917.  He earned a bachelor of arts degree in music at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., in 1939, and taught music at Pomeroy High School, Pomeroy, Iowa, from 1939 to 1942.  Thompson earned a master of divinity degree at Luther Theological Seminary (now Luther Seminary), St. Paul, Minn., in 1945.  He served as pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Paul, Minn., from 1944 to 1949, and at Grace Lutheran Church, Watertown, S.D., from 1949 to 1951.  He served as director for evangelism in the former Evangelical Lutheran Church and American Lutheran Church from 1951 to 1970.

Thompson developed the United States Congress on Evangelism held in Minneapolis in 1969, and served as a delegate to International Congresses on World Evangelization in Berlin, Germany, and Lausanne, Switzerland.  He was a member of the Commission on Evangelism and Stewardship of the Lutheran World Federation, a global communion of Christian churches in the Lutheran tradition founded in 1947.  Thompson is the author of several articles and booklets on marriage, spiritual healing and family.   A tribute to Thompson will be featured in the August 2001 issue of the "Good Newsletter," a bi-monthly publication of Lutheran Vespers. The tribute features a note written by Thompson last month with thoughts about his ministry with Lutheran Vespers.  He wrote:   "What helped to make our radio listeners so close to us were not only the warm letters of response, but what was called our 'coffee cup ministry.'  When I retired, Lutheran Vespers asked if my wife and I would spend two years visiting as many Lutheran Vespers listeners as possible.  How thrilling it was to meet people of every denomination, both the elderly and many young people.  And how blessed we were as we heard about their own stories and their prayers for Lutheran Vespers, and especially to hear their fervent confession of faith."

Thompson is survived by his wife, Swanhild (Swanee), a daughter, three sons, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Eighteen-year-old Douglas Lockrem of 1009 Division St. in Northfield was dead on arrival at Rice County District One Hospital early this morning after he apparently shot himself in the head at Wimpy's Restaurant, 520 Central Ave., Faribault. Faribault police were called to Wimpy's at 12:58 a.m. Saturday when they found Lockrem lying on the floor with a gun in his hand. Police said he came into the restaurant alone, didn't threaten anyone, and even ordered some food before turning the gun on himself. Funeral services are tentatively scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Benson-Anderson Funeral Home in Northfield. Interment will be in the Vang Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday and until the hour of services Monday. Douglas Lockrem was born Feb. 18, 1954, in Northfield. Dorothy had a great love for her family. She was always kind and compassionate with a positive outlook on life. She enjoyed taking care of and racing thoroughbred horses and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the Washburn American Legion Auxiliary and the First Lutheran Church of Washburn.

She is survived by her brother, Orville Selid; her sister, Annie Selid; her son-in-law, Mike Miller; and her 2 grandsons, Corey and Shawn Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband (Russ Elvrum); her daughter (Debbie); her son (Wade Hennenfent); and four brothers (Ove, Alvin, Norman, and Harold Selid).

Fresno, California - Ione Lucille Jacoby was born in Greenbush, MN, to Torger and Selma Dalager and passed away January 14, 2021 after a brief illness.

Ione grew up on a farm in northern Minnesota, going to school in a one room schoolhouse, and helping in the fields including the picking of the rocks "crop". Ione was very close to her four sisters and brother, who all said she was a gentle, forgiving, nonjudgmental soul, very much like their mother. Ione left the farm and married a Navy man and had her two boys. When Harold left the family she moved to Fresno in 1968 and went to work as a nurse's aide at Saint Agnes Hospital for over 30 years, first on Fruit then Herndon Ave. She raised her boys with much love, not questioning her life circumstances, but showing responsibility and doing the right thing.

Ione married Gene Jacoby in 1976 and moved to a little house on Thorne. Ione loved being with her six grandkids and two great grandkids and they loved just being around Grandma. Ione did not have a large group of friends, just very good ones who meant a lot to her.

Ione is survived by her son Gary and wife Kim, son Scott and wife Karen, grandchildren Trevor, Tyler, Jenna, Austin and wife Paige, Alex, Lauren, great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Mason, sisters Eunice, Verjean, Lavonne, brother Arlan. Her husband Gene and sister Shirley predeceased her.

Deborah "Debbie" Miller, 60, Donnybrook, ND, died unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, April 22, 2012 of natural causes.

Deborah Ann Hennenfent was born on June 22, 1951, in Minot, ND, a daughter of Cyril and Dorothy (Selid) Hennenfent. She was raised and educated in Riverdale, ND graduating from Riverdale High School in 1969. Debbie furthered her education by attending college at the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND for Nursing and Minot State University for secretarial studies.

On June 16, 1984, Debbie was united in marriage to Mike Miller in Donnybrook, ND.

She was secretary at the Fortuna radar base until it closed then transferred to Minot Air Force Base Fire Department, where she worked until their first son Corey was born in 1986, when she decided to be a homemaker. Their second son Shawn was born in 1987. Her boys always came first and were her pride and joy! After living in Minot, they moved to rural Donnybrook to a farm. Debbie loved living in the country and raising her boys on the family farm.

After her boys started school, Debbie worked at home as a medical transcriptionist. She also spent several summers working for the Department of Transportation which she thoroughly enjoyed. At the time of her death, she was a Scentsy consultant. Debbie loved to visit, so working for Scentsy was a perfect match for her. It gave her the opportunity to socialize and meet new friends and being a Scentsy consultant was not a job, just fun.

Debbie had a bubbly personality with a unique giggle to match. Her smile always brightened the room. She had a love for life, her family and her friends. She enjoyed conversations, camping, crosswords puzzles, shooting pool, boxing and a good mystery. She was a loyal friend and loved spending time visiting on the phone. She was also a member of the Washburn American Legion Auxiliary.

Debbie was blessed with her granddaughter Haley, born on June 20, 2008. This brought a new adventure to her life she loved dearly.

She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Elvrum; her husband Mike Miller; her sons, Corey ( Keshia Egeberg) Miller and Shawn Miller; and her granddaughter Haley.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Cyril Hennenfent; her brother Wade Hennefent; and her step dad; Russ Elvrum.
