Paulette Wilkins, in Find A Grave:
Christine Theresa Gjevre was born on Jan 26, 1892 in Wang Twp, Minnesota. She attended country school and completed the eighth grade. She was very active in the Maynard Lutheran Church that her father built. Christine was confirmed in 1906 and was given a gold cross with a chain by her mother. Christine was also a member of the Busy Bee Society of 1909. This was a group of young ladies who did much the same thing as the older women of the Ladies Aid Society.
Christine lived in Minneapolis for about a year when she was in her early twenties and this is when she learned to make hats. This talent would come in handy years later.Christine was quite attractive and had many suitors. When it came time to marry she was courted by two men; one she truly loved and one that her mother chose.
On Jan 6, 1915 at the age of 23 years, Christine married Albert Freehart Peterson at her parent's home in Maynard. Albert was born on Aug 22, 1882 and was the son of Andrew and Mary Peterson of Leenthrop Twp. Minnesota.
Christine's father had been dead for nearly 10 years and the family had little to no income. The Petersons were successful farmers and offered security to the Gjevre's only daughter. After their marriage they lived with Albert's grandfather on the farm in Leenthrop.
Christine had a fondness for cats and has as many as a dozen on the farm at one time. She also had a unique ability to find four leaf clovers and she would often enclose one in a card or letter. She was a quiet, gentle woman who kept to herself most of the time. She has musical talent as well and like to play the piano. One of her favorite tunes was “Let me Call You Sweetheart”.
Christine and Albert had 3 children:
b. Mar 06, 1916 Dorothy Constance d. June 1 2006
m. John Lampert Knoop

After about 10 years of marriage, Christine and Albert separated and she moved back to the Gjevre home with her three children. She supported herself by selling hats that she had made at a Millinery store in town and also by doing tailoring at home. Later her two sons did work for area farms to also help out. It was the Great Depression and times were hard. Albert had left the farm and worked on WPA projects and was gone from the family for many years.
Shortly after Christine's mother died in 1949, she went to work
for Dick Carlson as a live-in personal caregiver from 1953 until 1968. Dick suffered from Cerebral Palsy and needed constant care. Eventually Dick had to be moved to a nursing home so Christine once again moved back to the Gjevre home. She was now 76 years old.
Soon after she moved back, a friend of hers decided to play a trick on her and sent her name into a Lonely Hearts Club”. Sure enough, a nice gentleman named Olaf Braadland came calling but Christine put him off many times before finally accepting a dinner invitation. As they were driving to the restaurant they passed the courthouse and Olaf asked if she wanted to go inside and get married. Christine just laughed and said “no”. Every Saturday Olaf would take her to dinner and ask her to marry him as they passed the courthouse and every time she said “no”. Finally one evening she said “yes” and they were married on Sep 6, 1969 at Maynard Lutheran Church. Christine and Olaf lived at his home in Belgrade, Minnesota and they were very happy. But the happiness was short lived, because a few months after they were married it was discovered that Christine had cancer.
Christine Theresa Gjevre-Peterson-Braadland died on Dec 12, 1971 at the age of 79. She is buried at Grace Lutheran Church cemetery in Belgrade.
