In the 1865 census, he may be the Ole Olsen, b. 1851 in Vang, living with Petter Oveseb (b. 1795) and his wife Tørgun Evensdatter (b. 1795) on Petterpladsen in Vang. That Ole’s occupation was “tjener hos dem.”

In the 1900 census, he is Ole O Dalager, a farmer living with his family in Wang Twp, Renville County.

He is the Ole O. Dalager of Renville County, “aged 58 years,” who died 31 Jan 1909 in Renville County. He had moved to Renville County in about 1879. That Ole’s wife was Kjersta Lerold and they had two sons and two daughters: Olous, Chris, Ida, and Emma. According to the article in the Mower County Transcript of Lansing, this Ole was the oldest son of Ole A. Dalager of Lansing Twp.

In the 1885 state census, he is probably the Ole Dalager, age 21, living with Ole A Dalager, 57 and Isabel, 59, in Udolpho Twp, Mower County. Also in that household are Betsy, 18, Anton, 15, and Emma, 12. The two youngest children were born in Minnesota, everyone else in Norway.

The 1889 article on their wedding in the Mower County Transcript refers to him as Ole Dalager Jr.

In the 1900 census, he and his family live in Austin in Mower County. He is a traveling salesman. Daisy has had only the three children, all born in Minnesota. He had come to the U.S. in 1872.

In the 1910 census, he may be the 45 year-old Ole A Dalager living in Ward County, North Dakota. He was a boarder in a rooming house and he was a painter of houses.

In the 1915 state census, as Ole A. Dalager, he lives in Sawyer in Ward County, North Dakota.

In the 1920 census, he may be the 55 or 56 year-old Ole A Dalager rooming in Minot. He was a painter doing odd jobs.

In the 1930 census, he may be the 65 year-old Ole Dalger, an inmate in the Ward County Home in Ward County, North Dakota. He was a divorced man, first married when he was 23.

A 76 year-old Ole Dalager, b. 2 Jul 1860, died in Ward County on 23 Dec 1936.

Elmer Dalager of Montevideo died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Presbyterian Homes on Lake Minnetonka in Spring Park, Minnesota, at the age of 96.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Elmer Norman Dalager was born January 6, 1918 at Granite Falls, MN the son of Christopher and Mathilda (Ellefson) Dalager. He attended rural school and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1937. Elmer served in the US Navy during WW II and was stationed in the Philippines. On April 6, 1947, he was united in marriage to Idell Erickson at the Hanley Falls Lutheran Church. They lived for a short time in Minneapolis and Marshall, Minnesota, before moving to Montevideo in 1949. Elmer worked at Molde’s Electric before becoming deputy county treasurer in the late 1950's. He served as the Chippewa County Treasurer until retiring in the early 1980's. Elmer played town team baseball in his younger years. He put a lot of time and energy into the development of Lagoon Park. He enjoyed camping, fishing and playing golf. He especially loved being around people and had a good sense of humor.
 
He is survived by his two daughters: Susan Halverson and her husband Jon of Minnetonka, and Karen Ryan and her husband John of Plymouth; three grandchildren: Molly (Sam) Auseth, Adam (Rhiana) Halverson and Robert Ryan; six great-grandchildren: Olivia and Dylan Auseth, Adriana, Ivy, and Hudson Halvorson, and Lachlyn Ryan.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Idell in 2004; four brothers: Orville, Melvin, Christopher, and Chester Dalager; and two sisters: Lillian Stevens and Ruth Stevens.

Donna Delaney passed away peacefully in the company of her family on October 26th. She was the beloved wife of the late Gene Delaney; loving mother of Dan (Kathy), Dick (Millie), Chris (Anne), Kathy Delaney (Bill Saunders and son Craig), Terry and Tom Delaney; dear grandmother of Dan, Walt, Annie (Dave) Porter, Miles (Katie), Ryan (Suzie), Lexie, Lauren, Matt, Meaghan, Jenny, Kevin and Mike; great granddaughter Addie. 

Donna was born in Chicago to Dr. Roy A. and Catherine B. Dallager (née Seery) and raised in South Shore, first on Euclid then on Bennett Ave. One of the high points of her early years, and the source of many stories, was spending time during the summer at the cottage her father Roy built by himself in Momence, Illinois down by the wild Rock River. This was the site of endless pranks by her brother Dick (aka The Big Dealer, Uncle Tully, Old Gus), whom she loved dearly in spite of, or perhaps because of, his constant kidding of her. 

Her parish and grammar school was Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Here began a lifelong friendship with Monsignor Ignatius McDermott, MSW (“Father Mac”), a young assistant pastor who later dedicated his life initiating trail-blazing programs for those fighting addiction. Fr. Mac provided important support and consolation at two key times in Donna’s life - when her father died unexpectedly after surgery and again 51 years later during the final days of her husband Gene. 

After four years at Aquinas Dominican H.S., she attended Barat College and then Mundelein College for nearly a year, but college was not her cup of tea. It was back to beloved South Shore and work in the city at the offices of Peabody Coal Co. 

Donna delighted in telling her kids of the time during her courtship with Gene when he was picked up by Chicago police while he waited for her to return home in his father’s black Buick. Turns out that idling a black Buick down the block from the home of reputed Chicago Outfit racketeer Murray “The Camel” Humphreys was not the ideal way to begin a date. However, the incident did not deter Gene and they were married in May of 1949. 

After early years in their garden apartment in Chatham, Donna and Gene, with 4 kids in tow, moved to their first house in La Grange, spending 10 years raising a growing family and meeting lifelong friends like Lou & Otto Molidor. A family can be thought of as the sum of its stories and the years in LaGrange provided hundreds, which were told and re-told amidst laughter throughout the years, right up to her last days. It doesn’t get any better than that. 

After 2 years in Connecticut, Donna and Gene returned to the Chicago area and completed raising their family in Northbrook. During these years, Donna was Eucharistic Minister for more than a decade at Our Lady of the Brook and even had a short-lived career in real estate at Lake Bay Realty. It became clear pretty quickly that Donna’s heart was in filling a home with food, joy and fun rather than selling it. 

One of her longest-lasting achievements was hosting an annual Thanksgiving Turkey Bowl for 36 years in her Northbrook backyard. Family, school friends and neighbors would take to the field in games where the same plays seemed to be run each year and the games always ended in a tie, thanks to the officiating of Gene Delaney and Jack McCarthy. One year, several players opted to stay for Thanksgiving dinner, which warmed Donna’s heart. 

That was what Donna cherished the most – her family and happy meals around her well-stocked table. Her family will all miss those meals, but will always remember them.

The Rev. Ronald W. Thomsen, 42, of Tamuning, Guam, and formerly of Austin, died of cancer Wednesday (March 18, 1992) at Guam Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 14, 1949, in Austin, he graduated from high school in Moreno Valley, Calif., and attended Citadel Baptist Bible College in Sacramento, Calif. From 1971 to 1982 he worked at Geo. A. Hormel & Co. in Austin and since 1982 had served as pastor of Baptist Mid-Missions in Guam and Micronesia.

On Oct. 16, 1971, he married Sharon Kay Morrison at First Baptist Church in Austin.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Tracie Thomsen of Owatonna and Heidi Thomsen of Santa Rita, Guam; two sons, William and David, both of Santa Rita; his parents, William and Lorraine Thomsen of Grass Valley, Calif.; and a sister, Peggy (Mrs. John) Bork of Orange, Calif.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Austin with the Revs. R. Allan Flint and Jack Dowden co-officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.
