      WILLISTON, N.D. - Violet (Tuggy) Lee, 81, a longtime Williston resident, passed away Saturday morning, May 19, 2007 at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston.??Her funeral will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, May 22, 2007, at First Lutheran Church in Williston. Rev. Martin Mock will officiate and interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.??Violet Ruth Vollum was born on Jan. 29, 1926 in Naicam, Saskatchewan, Canada to Henry and Josephine (Johnson) Vollum. She was raised in the Williston area and attended school at Stoney Creek.??On Dec. 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Kermit Lee in Sidney, Mont. Violet was a cook at various Williston Restaurants including the Luzon and the Silver Grill. She also owned and operated Lee's Café for a number of years. Most recently, she was a cook at Rickard School for 17 years, retiring in 1991.

      Violet loved bingo, playing cards, dancing, and camping. She was known for her “top of the line” potato salad and caramel rolls.??She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Trenton Senior Club and Meals on Wheels.??Violet is survived by her children, Vern (Mary) of Saco, Mont., Kermit Jr. (Wanda Moran), Joe (Diana), Jerry (Dee Shumake), and Barb Lee (Tonya Scott), all of Williston; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harlen Vollum of Williston; sisters, Margaret Hoey of Long Island, N.Y., Hazel Piriak of Apache Junction, Ariz., Dorothy Olson of Daytona, Fla., and Elvina Rolla of Brainerd, Minn.; and by many others she took in along the way.??She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kermit in 1977; daughters, Terry Slater and Carol Ann Lee; a granddaughter, Karry Lee; a great-granddaughter, Tressa Slater; and a brother, Bud.??Friends may call at the Everson Funeral Home in Williston from 1 until 7 p.m. on Monday, from 9 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, and at the church for the hour preceding the funeral.
