  Notes	Leonard registered for the draft on June 5, 1917, in Marmarth, North Dakota. He was born in Marshall, Wisconsin, and works for his father as a clerk in a store. He is single and claims no exemption from the draft. He is described as tall and slender with gray eyes and brown hair. In the 1920 census, he and Angela, newly married, live next door to Leonard’s father and step-mother in Marmarth, North Dakota. Leonard runs a general store. In the 1930 census, he and his family are living in St. Paul. He has a grocery store. Leonard was a veteran of the world war. His obit in the Billings Gazette, 28 Jan 1969, edition, says that he had died on “Sunday,” presumably meaning 26 January, at Veterans Hospital in Miles City and that he usually lived in Baker. He was 72 years old. He married Angela Griffin in St. Paul in 1919 and operated a mercantile store in Marmarth, North Dakota, until 1930 and then moved to St. Paul. In 1941 he returned to Marmarth and operated the Yellowstone Hotel until selling and moving to Baker in 1967. On 8 jan 1944 he married Esther May Robinson in Billings and she survived him. Other survivors were a daughter in St. Paul and Leonard’s step-mother, Mrs. Helen Radke of Portland, Oregon.
