Notes |
- In the 1911 Canadian census, William Archibald is living next to the Jestins on the Herbert Hall farm. William was born in England in December of 1886 and had come to Canada in 1906. His daughter says that he first worked in Winnipeg and then filed for his homestead (N.E. 15-41-19) in 1908. This homestead was a half mile west of Louis Jestins.
His daughter goes on to say that the family lived on and farmed the homestead until 1933 when they moved to Daylesford for three years. They then moved back to the Kermaria district to live on the Jestin homestead where they farmed until their retirement in 1949 when they moved to Saskatoon. Bill was known as a very neighborly man of a jovial character and a good companion.
As found by Jan, the 1921 Canadian census does, indeed, show William and Josephine living on 15-41-19 in Lake Lenore. They had no children yet at that point. The next census entry after the Archibalds was Louis and Frances Jestin and family.
