He and his wife Doris E live at 2905 West 3rd. (James’s draft registration shows his address as 2019 Minn. Avenue, Duluth.) In the 1940 census, he and Doris and Susan live at 2905 West Third St. in Duluth. Both he, 31, and Doris, 21, are high school graduates. James does hotel work in a hotel. Doris has been an elevator operator in a hotel. Both were unemployed, only James was looking for work. In the 1944 Duluth city directory, he is James R Campbell, bus operator. He and his wife Doris live at 3107 Restormel. A James Campbell, no middle name or initial, died in St. Louis County on 13 Oct 1968. That death is not in the Minnesota Death Index and it is not in the SSDI. The Anderson Family Tree on Ancestry.com shows his death in Ashland, Wisconsin, in 1968. The Wisconsin Death Index does not show that death. Gloria Jane Buie’s Sheridan Illinois Family Tree has him dying in Duluth on 5 May 1973. That death is not in the Minnesota Death Index.
