He was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Gordon to Ernest and Alma (Wold) Vincent. He graduated from Gordon High School, attended Superior State College for one year and attended Carroll College in Waukesha for two years. Mr. Vincent served with the U.S. Army in the Asiatic and Pacific Theaters during World War II. After his discharge in 1946 he moved to St. Paul where he worked for Webb Publishing Company until his retirement. He was a member of Lockman-Jensen American Legion Post No. 499 in Gordon and the American Association of Retired Persons. Survivors include two sisters, Sue Bergin, Cloquet, Minn., and Olene (John) Holt, Duluth; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Shirley Lannin, four half-brothers, Emory, Eugene, Gerald and Robert Vincent; and two half-sisters, Grace Johnson and Nellie (Lawler) Johnson. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Gordon, with Rev. David Heyser, pastor of Presbyterian Pioneer Parish, officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Gordon Memorial Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Lockman-Jensen American Legion Post No. 499 of Gordon. Casket bearers will be Jon and Tim Bergin, John, Mark and Paul Holt and Harry Smith. Arrangements are being handled by the Brown Funeral Home in Solon Springs.
