  Notes	In the 1940 census, she was living with her father in Lincoln Twp, Polk County. Armella “Toots” Dean Thompson, 86, a resident of The Dalles, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at the Hood River hospital. She was born July 9, 1923, in Amery, Wis., the third of four children to Simon G. and Myrtle T. (Anderson) Valgren. She grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from high school. ?She married Jack Kennedy Thompson on Nov. 21, 1942 in Amery. She has resided in The Dalles since 1957. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in The Dalles, where she sang in the choir for many years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving when her family, relatives and friends would spend the long holiday visiting and enjoyed her cooking. Forty-two were in attendance last year. ?She is survived by her children, Jack C. Thompson, Portland; Michael R. Thompson, Milwaukie; Terry D. Thompson, Portland; Scott K. Thompson, Bend; and Lisa M. Thompson, Seattle; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a son, Jerry. Viewing will be held Friday, July 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 10 at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Kramer officiating. Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery 18th Street with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
