      An Obit:

Richard “Dick” Albert Eidal, 81, died Feb 21, 2003, succumbing to heart disease after a lengthy and difficult struggle.

He was born March 14, 1921, in Ellensburg, the only child of Elmer Oliver and Henriette Berthe Eidal. Dick graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1938 and attended Central Washington University and the University of Washington.

In 1946, he graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School. During his internship at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Dick met Nadeane Louise Blackford. They married six months later on July 27, 1947. After his internship, Dick and Nadeane moved to March Air Force Base in southern California where Dick served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1947 to 1949.

In 1949, Dick and Nadeane moved to Auburn where Dick began practicing medicine with Dr. Ellie Giere. Together, they started the Doctors’ Clinic Association where Richard practiced from 1949 to 1990. During his 41 years as a physician in Auburn, he practiced general medicine, surgery, and delivered three generations of Auburn residents.

Dick loved to spend time with his family and friends. In earlier years, much of his time was spent taking his family on skiing trips to Crystal Mountain and Sun Valley as well as on long road trips to California and within the Pacific Northwest. He enjoyed celebrating each New Year by hosting his longtime annual New Year’s Eve party. Dick and Nadeane also had a summer residence in Lakota were he loved to go boating and water skiing. He also enjoyed hosting another longtime tradition, his annual Fourth of July party at Lakota and he was known to excell in salmon baking and daiquiri blending. In his later years, Dick enjoyed being with his family and in the company of his many friends, babysitting grandchildren, traveling, vacationing in Hawaii and California, and going to Bible study at Messiah Lutheran Church.

Dick was very involved in the community. He was a member of the Rio Verde Kiwanis, the Auburn School Board, the Green River Community College Board of Trustees, and was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Professionally, he was a member of the King County Medical Association, the Washington State Medical Association, a charter fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, an active staff member and former chief of staff of Auburn General Hospital, co-founder of the Doctors’ Clinic Association (now Auburn MultiCare Clinic) and a Golden Circle Alumnus of the Oregon Health Sciences University.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nadeane; children Christen (Laura), Richard, Judy, and Peter (Deanne); and his grandchildren, Lauren, Mark, Erin, and Evan. Services will be at 3 p.m. February 26 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 805 Fourth Street N.E. in Auburn. The burial will be private. It is requested that all memorials be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church.
