    • Thomas Damian VoPava, 58, passed away November 8, 2016 at Taylor House. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Iles Westover Chapel, a vigil service will follow beginning at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Monday, November 14, 2016 at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, Ankeny. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines.

      Tom was born December 19, 1957 in Minneapolis, MN to Shirley (Bailey) and Clair "Denny" VoPava and grew up in Des Moines. He attended St. Theresa's School, Dowling High School, Class of 1976 and attended Drake University. Tom worked for ADP for 18 years and previously at Harland Check Printing for 17 years. In 1998 he met his loving wife, Sandi Stankiewicz and they were married in 2001.

      Tom enjoyed fishing, model trains, painting, photography, smooth jazz and golf. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins and was very happy to see the Cubs win the World Series.
      Tom's greatest joy was his family, whom he loved very much.

      Tom is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Sandi; children, Ali VoPava, and Niki (Caleb) Mumford, Jeryd York VoPava, Ashley Thorpe and Jason Scott; 3 grandchildren, Allysa, Ella and Dexter; siblings, Theresa (Rick) Tavegia, Dami (Dan) Dishman, Jennifer (Brian) Lee, Steve VoPava and Jim (Lisa) VoPava. As well as many nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents.
