- Her mother’s maiden name was Paulson.
In the 1900 census, Clara was 9 and living with her parents and siblings in the village of Madison, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. Her father was a farmer who owned his farm.
In the 1910 census, Clara was 18 and living with her parents and siblings in Pokegama Twp, Pine County, Minnesota. She had no occupation.
In the 1920 census, Clara was a nurse living with a family in Robbinsdale.
In the 1928 Minneapolis city directory, Clara Lynch, a nurse, lives at 625 Lowry Avenue N.
According to the 1930 census, she was born in Minnesota and both of her parents were born in Norway.
Sandy lived with her in Minneapolis in the '30s until his death. After Sandy’s death, Clara lived with Bess for awhile and was in the tailoring business with Bess briefly.
In the 1930 census, Al was living with Sandy, 48, and “servant” Clara Lynch, 38, divorced, at 3901 13th Avenue in a house worth $4500. Sandy was the head of household and owns the house. Sandy was a "tinner" at a bakery and Al has no occupation listed. Sandy was a veteran of the Spanish American war. Sandy is shown as still married, Clara is divorced, and Al is shown as widowed (?). Sandy was first married at age 22, Clara was first married at age 30, and Al was first married at age 23. Sandy is shown as having been born in Minnesota.
In the 1936 city directory, she is Mrs. Clara Lynch, residing at 4346 40th Ave. S. (the same address as Sandy Fogelquist).
In the 1938 city directory she is not listed as Clara Lynch, nor is she listed with Sandy.
She is not listed in the 1939 city directory.
In the 1940 census, Clara Lynch, a 48 year-old divorcee, lived with Bess Carlson in Bess’s apartment. Clara is shown as a housekeeper in a private home.
The last we hear of Clara in Cora’s diary seems to be September 13, 1948, after a long absence after her “shower” on May 14, 1942. Presumably, at that point she got married again.
Clara Lynch married James C Alverson in Hennepin County on 31 May 1942. James C Alverson died in Hennepin County on 29 Oct 1952.
She died as Clara Stariha. According to her death certificate, she was the widow of Joseph. She died of a stroke. The informant for her death certificate was Carol Iverson of 5834 Pearson Drive in Minneapolis. (Carol was Clara’s niece, the daughter of one of her brothers.) Clara’s parents were Ole Thorson, born in Norway, and Gunia Paulson, born in Norway.
Her burial at Crystal Lake Cemetery may have been arranged for by Ide.
